  1. I agree too gents.
  2. Stinging insects suck. I am glad he is not allergic.
  3. I am selling a rod I just received in a trade. It is a Redington Red.Fly 8' 5/6 4pc. It includes the sock and cordura tube. The rod is a sweetheart with a WF6F. I cast it last night for the first time and it is too fast for me as I fish fiberglass for everything, but for those who love a faster rod, they are ideal! I am looking to get $42 shipped, but make me an offer via PM. I accept paypal+2% for paypal fees or for local pickup, $35. Thanks for looking!
  4. I am a cheap arse, and I am fishing three year old spools of Orvis SS 4x tippet right now, but have some 6 and 7x fluoro Mirage and love it for dry fly trout fishing.
  5. It is not mohair, but that fly looks like it would be great in a #8 here locally...I might want to get ahold of a lot of dubbing so I can tie some up!
  6. My team sucks too! Buffalo!
  7. The LST rods are known for breaking tips, if you read the reviews. Just an FYI
  8. Regular Season 09/07/08 at New England Patriots L 09/14/08 Oakland Raiders W 09/21/08 at Atlanta Falcons W 09/28/08 Denver Broncos W 10/05/08 at Carolina Panthers L 10/12/08 Bye 10/19/08 Tennessee Titans L 10/26/08 at New York Jets L 11/02/08 Tampa Bay Buccaneers L 11/09/08 at San Diego Chargers L 11/16/08 New Orleans Saints L 11/23/08 Buffalo Bills W 11/30/08 at Oakland Raiders W 12/07/08 at Denver Broncos L 12/14/08 San Diego Chargers L 12/21/08 Miami Dolphins W 12/28/08 at Cincinnati Bengals L Apparently, I think 6-10, at best 7-9. They do not have the offense to play against most of those teams, especially the Jets, Broncos and Bengals. I want to see if they can score more than 20 a game this year. I think Croyle will crack under pressure, and they will go back to the career backup Huard, when they could have drafted someone this year or traded for someone worthwhile (my opinion). A lot of this is dependent upon if LJ plays like the overpaid weenie he did last year or if he pulls his head from between his cheeks.
  9. Ok, time for me to stick a reel on my 5/6 Redington and have some fun on the Wakarusa. You all have me wanting to catch some darn carp, and cats.
  10. Cabela's has the Ross Cimarron on sale for $120, Rhythm on sale for $150, and the Lamson Konic 2 for $129. Take your pick!
  11. Where in KS are you at? We do not have that problem yet around Lawrence and Topeka. I understand the theory behind C&R, but honestly if they are not part of a breeding stock in that watershed, I fail to see what purpose they serve. Sorry, I guess I would rather see self sustaining populations than hatchery managed stocks.
  12. MoCarp, bigheads and silvers can be caught on a fly. We have a guy here in Kansas who catches a lot of them during high water. He loves the pull of them on his 8wt. In high water, if you go to a spillway of a lake, you can jig heavy Clousers on the bottom along the ends of the wingwalls.
  13. Ok, I had not seen that, and yes I do fly fish. We had a 10+ page long thread about this also, and the points expressed there about Taney being a fishtank that is constantly replenished through stocking, fit here also. If I want to catch 12" rainbow trout, there are places closer to home to do it. The only time that it makes any sense to run to Branson to fish Taney is in the fall when the chance is better at a larger fish. I am of the school of thought that native species require protection like catch and release, but introdruced species should be taken out of waters that either they are not native in, or that they cannot self sustain. Now, your bleeding heart TU will not see it that way, as trout are supposed to be protected in any coldwater fishery that is available. That part of the lake is used at most times of the year by some species, be it suckers, smallies, walleye or white bass, it is used. I guess my view is not the most commonly approved one though, so I will keep it to myself.
  14. Preseason. The Colts lost all 4 preseason games and won the Super Bowl, remember? Do not put any stock in anything preseason. I counted it up the other night on their schedule, and they should lost about 9 games at the least They need a lot more help than what they drafted, especially since their draft picks are hurt, and have not played.
  15. lk, I have to ask why you assume he is clipping their fins. Once fish are caught, do they quit feeding? Of course not, meaning they will and can be caught again using the same tactic as before. Fish have a brain the size of a peanut, and we all revel in how how smart these creatures are, yet they eat powerbait that looks as natural as finding a hot dog tree growing in your yard. C&R is a good thing in an area where the resources are limited, however at Taney, the only things that are limited are wading space and native species. The trout are all hatchery stocked, yet catch and release is encouraged....it kind of baffles me. I do not keep anything, but if I did, it would not be a trout. I think they taste awful. I cannot understand why all these "conservationists" view catch and release in a FULLY STOCK-MANAGED fishery as a necessity. Sorry, I know, I feel like Trav on this one...Dead Horse topic.
  16. You stole that combo...he could have gotten $350 for just the rod, and another $125 for the reel...WOW, you are a hell of a bargainer!
  17. One thing with the TiCRx, the rod is one of the stiffest ultrasuperduperhighlinespeedcastamile fast action rods and does not load with a 5wt line at short (sub 35') ranges, as reported by Yellowstone Angler in their 5wt shootout. The rod is more of a 6+ weight rod if you want it to work at short ranges. Also, it may not protect a trout tippet the way a rod needs to. I suggest using nothing less than 3x on a 6wt, anything less and you will have to underplay the fish to keep from breaking off. I fish fiberglass and the added flex of the rods helps protect a lighter tippet.
  18. stragercreek, you have a PM.
  19. I hope it comes through. More water to fish there is great for everyone, and who knows...more big fish down there?
  20. I gave up my vest due to the weight, and only using one fly box.

How about paying Larry Johnson, the overhyped, overpaid crybaby.
  22. I have to ask, do you carry or need enough crap for the storage of that vest?
  23. zsmith, I was just messing with you. It is cool, I think of it like having carp sucking down cottonwood seeds and you target them with a white wulff and have fun!
  24. That is like chumming though....Just kidding, sounds like fun.

Next year they will draft a punter. You know how Carl drafts.
