  1. Have fun. Hope you get to do some fishing most of us Missourians only get to dream of!
  2. How do you catch panfish (gills, crackers, etc) when the temperatures plummet and the lakes all but freeze? I am wondering as I am relatively new to the flyfishing for panfish thing.
  3. I have to agree! I would almost rather spend a day catching bass, gills, crappie, and catfish on woollies and small dries than driving three hours each way to catch trout. What lakes and ponds in the KC area do you fish? I live in Independence, and was just wondering. You can reply through PMs if you would like to not post your ponds and lakes on here.
  4. The only drawback to the reel is the plastic drag. If you can, replace that with a Battenkill or CFO. But just my .02...not knocking the reel at all mind you, I would love to have it, but you know...just issuing the two cents I feel would help you get the most enjoyment from this equipment.
  5. An empty RR park would be a GREAT thing to find. Wish I lived in the Cassville or Monett area.
  6. I would be wade fishing the rivers and would want an approximate location of decent smallie holes to try my hand at catching them on the fly! Thanks.
  7. replied jared. Nice day fishing! Will definitely be down there the 22nd barring a miracle.
  8. Just wondering, what is a good fly selection for at Maramec? I might be down that way next week, and would want to catch some trout! Let me know please either by PM or on here. I would love to get into some of these lunkers you are catching
  9. Wilds in capps? Does MDC know about it? Well, I would guess you did your homework if you already have all the named creeks.
  10. Any smallies in the Sac or Little Sac? How close is the river to KC?
  11. Any news on the stream lately? I was curious how the water is after the snowmelt, and such...
  12. Like the title says, what do you think the most productive methods of fishing Capps or any of the smaller brushy streams are? UL or L spin tackle or a fly rod? I have all three and was wondering what you all thought. Also, how can I figure out when the stocking trucks will be there to maximize the chances at some trout there? Thanks.
  13. Weaubleau does or at least it should. The Sac and Little Sac does.
  14. I know, or at least have heard there are some smallies in the headwaters of the Lamine river in central MO. I would however love to move to southern MO and be surrounded by trout and smallie waters. I am curious how close to KC the Sac and Little Sac are. Well, off to search...thanks.
  15. Like it says, I want to find the smallmouth stream closest to Kansas City, MO. I love trout and all, but there has to be some smallie waters closer to home than 2.5 hrs or so. Let me know if anyone wants to get together for some smallie fishing in the winter or spring. Thanks again guys.
  16. Email sent. Please get back to me, thanks man.
  17. Where do you fish for these fish? It could be due to the river itself being lower than in years past, and possibly on less forage for the fish to eat...just a suggestion.
  18. Yeah, WalMart, does not have any here. Kind of upsetting.
  19. Hello, this may be an off the wall topic for a want ad, but I am in need of used, but usable waders at a GREAT price. I need a release from life in the city, and live only two hours from the Niangua. The circumstances are: My fiancee is six and a half months pregnant, and lost her job, I am the only income and stressing about it so bad, wondering how I will account for the difference in income, and just need to escape it all for a day every other week and because of this I cannot spend the $100 on a new set of waders, I would like to get a set of used but usable waders. Bootfoot are great (preferred actually), I would need a 10 size boot, but let me know what you have and could let them go for. Thanks. I check this site about twice a week, so you can post here or email me at drew03cmc@yahoo.com. Thanks again.
  20. Where exactly is Crane Creek? Is it a place that could be fished with an 8'6 5wt or would I need to get a smaller rod to allow casting before I tried it?
  21. Ok, well I should be trying to be down aroung Christmas, if I can slip away from work (retail during holidays) for a day or so. I am filling the vest with necessities right now. Thanks for the help!
  22. Wow, Tim, nice fish! Any particular colors of glo balls? 7x still a necessity, or would 6x fluoro work well enough? Thanks a lot! I appreciate all the help guys...
  23. What flies does everyone recommend I bring for C&R season at RRSP? I fish a 8'6" 5wt rod, and would you recommend fishing the portion of the park where wading is allowed? I would like to catch great #s of fish, as well as a lunker or two in a day long trip. Where would be the best place to start my search for trout right after Christmas? Please let me know! Thanks guys!
  24. While I am a fan of both Bennett and Roaring, I have not been to either of the other two parks yet, and I must say that Roaring River below the concrete walkways is a pretty pleasant place to fish, although the holes being as deep as they are may have been manmade, but it was done to keep people from wading. Bennett is more circus than trout stream, regardless of how many people say it is the best place in the state to catch trout. I am a believer in Roaring River and will be trying to get down there once a month next year, but will not go to Bennett due to the circus atmosphere. Onto Montauk needing dredged. NO! That is not the solution. As jd said, better timber practices would help out as much as dredging. Maramec, come on...it is a wide park, now below the park is where the fun is at! You can get into some very nice fish below the park on the River. So, bear with the parks if you must, but if a streamlike setting is your goal, fish a river, not the parks (except Roaring River in winter)...end shameless plug.
  25. Been a good past few outings for ya? Wow, I am envious!
