  1. I am going to be down in August or early September for my trip. I will stop in Tim, and will probably run by Crane, BTW, how far is Crane from KC?
  2. Seems like you have it figured out CC. Gorgeous fish, Tim!
  3. Ok, here goes. Today, I am trying to buy lunch, all of $3! I swipe my card, declined. Alright, I call home, have the missus check the bank account. We are $4500 in the hole! Apparently, a person she knew, opened up a Gateway credit card in her name and spent over $2000 on it. Now, 7 years later, the attorney we have been paying $100 a month for this, decides that, after one of her associates makes an arrangement with my fiancee, that they want all of their money at once. Now, I do not know the legal processes, but I do know, I have a 5.5 month old, myself and her to feed, as well as bills to pay, clothes, diapers, etc that are going to be very hard to afford for a few months. Please help, and keep us in your prayers. I appreciate it!
  4. I bought a 4wt. I love it! ST Croix Premier 8' on clearance at Cabelas in Kansas City for $55.
  5. That would be a blast. Any way of actually targeting them, or is it most often chance that causes one to hook and catch one on a long rod?
  6. Last I knew, they had to be cast with a much more open loop and SLOW down! The tip is A LOT heaview than the floating line, so you have to make adjustments to compensate for that. The 333 should cast just fine if you take the time to learn to cast it well.
  7. Tim, you have a PM, and I will talk to you about the tying stuff when I am down there. I will need the basics, but will probably have to order them from you...you know how that goes. Thanks a million guys! I appreciate it.
  8. Ok, does anyone know of anywhere online that sells foam spiders in about a size 12? I am after some, and the local fly shop here stopped tying flies for customers so I have no source as I do not yet tie my own flies. I am in dire need as the gills are spawning and it is that time again! Thanks a million.
  9. I just bought a 4pc St Croix Premier 8'4wt. It should work everywhere I want it to, and if I need a shorter rod, a Featherlight is only $20 at Tim's!
  10. You think it will work well with a WF5F? If so, I might just order one in the morning! It would also make an awesome small stream rod.
  11. Yeah, I would love to be able to talk her into anything...she is more steadfast in her wants than I am. I will usually sacrifice a day of trout fishing for a day of bluegill fishing in the interest of not sleeping on the couch.
  12. Cool, so a 7' or 7'6" 3wt will be plenty for the park as well as the creek on the way home, Tim? Thanks.
  13. Cool! I may have to have one sent to my house for use on creeks and for bluegills. Did it seem to overpower the fish available to you or was it a nice balance?
  14. Will a 3wt cast a #10 bugger or mickey finn?
  15. I would get some buggers and zonker strip flies in white, black, and olive for your locations!
  16. What line were you using on the 5/6? I have considered getting that one also, but am just wondering...
  17. Oh lord... Ok, I am going to throw a DT5F! Sounds good to me.
  18. Ok, sorry to drag up a dead thread, but will the 6'6" throw a WF4F or DT5F line ok? If so, I am going to get one for catching trout, gills, bass, and anything else that decides to eat my flies...I need an urgent response please as I am purchasing something Thursday! Thank you very much.
  19. I cannot wait for three weeks from ...today! Get to come down, hit the best trout fishing area in the state, and stay for two days...NOT NEARLY LONG ENOUGH.
  20. If bluegill fishing, I throw san juan worms or black water spiders in a #12-14. If trout fishing, I have my best luck on gray scuds, griffiths gnats (smaller the better), as well as #16 Adams and olive #10 BH Buggers. The real question here is not about flies first, it is about your fly gear. What do you use....an 000-15 wt? Then we can talk about flies, leaders, tippet, etc... But you will become an addict like I did. Good luck, tight lines, and kissin fishes.
  21. You realize they had a problem with Whirling Disease in the last few years, right? That disease affects the rainbows specifically. That is why you caught more browns than bows. I realize you spoke to a CDOW agent, but they are not always right. Think of Missouri's agents...they have their moments. Before blaming the reduction of the bows on browns please think of that. That outbreak has been VERY well published in numerous national fly fishing publications. Fly Fish America had an article about fishing the Gunnison Gorge last year in their trout issue, and lo and behold....(drumroll please), they were informed to not expect many bows due to the outbreak of whirling disease. The numbers of rainbows have been severely depleted. In the magazine, the six people who spent three days fishing caught ONE rainbow, and easily one hundred brown trout. The browns would enhance a stellar fishery to possibly being a world class trout river if the fish grow to sizes exceeding 10#+ and are abundant. Now, I realize that is all speculatory, so why not stock the browns and see how they do. If nothing else, their life expectancy would not exceed 10-15 years, so after that, you would have your all rainbow trout fishery back that cannot sustain itself without additional stockings. Just what I think, and how I feel on the matter.
  22. No problem. We will be down midday on the 29th. Camp reservations are done, as well as getting gear. I am needing a 7'6" 4wt fly rod as well as a reel for it with line. I prefer a click/pawl drag, so if you have anything of that nature in the $140 range for the outfit, let me know and I will get it when I get down there. Thanks Tim!
  23. You carry these flies in the shop? The sculpin patterns and stuff...also what size and color buggers? I have everything from size 8-10 in black, olive, brown, white, I think a ginger as well as some beadhead...
  24. Yeah, I will probably be doing a lot of walking. I probably will park at the various bridges and fish upstream with nymphs and downstream to the car with streamers. Is there any dry fly action in that part of the stream? I would probably come upstream to the first bridge from the park and fish my way up to the park. What is a basic fly selection to cover the bases on the river?
  25. Well, on June 30th, I am going to be down there all day. On the 29th, I will probably fish the park. Almost guaranteed fish there...Is the river below the park mostly shallow and wadeable?
