  1. Well I think it actually may be a common snapper now.
  2. Yeah we seen a larger one down that way before near KK. This little guy had light bumps on his shell that you could feel under the moss. The rear end looked bumpy and spiked. If you look at my FB you can see the rest of the pics there.
  3. Wasn't sure a friend of mine told it was one. Said it was just a baby, lol.
  4. Took the fam and and SLT Staff down to the Finley by KK yesterday. We had a blast hanging out swimming and fishing. I caught 3 Smallies on Trantham Crawlers and had a heck of a time trying to get the Largies to bite. Bluegill were in good form of course. We even caught a baby Alligator Snapping Turtle. It was a good ol time all around.
  5. Sounds like fun thanks for the info. Was thinking about the James this weekend.
  6. It was a little slow today but nice. Got a lot of Bluegill and the bass had lock jaw but were around. Seemed the wanted the smaller gills when we caught them but just weren't chewing hard enough to catch.
  7. Will be at KK if anyone else is going to be out today. Going to give it a try in this weather and see if the bass are hungry.
  8. Seen fish but caught nothing it was just nice day to go down there. Seen a few nice bass but had nothing enticing enough for them. Water was really cold as I had to do one rod retrieval. One of the kids was learning to cast a spinning rig and tossed my pole out in the middle. Last year the water was little warmer around this time. Going to finish the Boat this week and take a paddle up from KK. I think the fishing will be more productive by my other spots just couldn't walk to em this year.
  9. Bout to leave in a little while and can't find my freaking camera. Murphy is up to something today.
  10. Hitting the Finley at KK tomorrow will post pics if anything good or not.
  11. just a little down from there at KK there is slab there part of the old road. Around this time a year it is nice spot just below and there is spot in the back too that can not be seen. Next time you head out that way shoot me a call. I almost got my float skiff done I am making it mainly for fishing the Finley around KK and the park.
  12. How high was it on the slab by KK? If you went by there that is... I drove by one day recently I had a sinder block out there I was using to gauge the depth. Last time I went down there in April I could barely see my block out on the gravel where I placed it. I frequent that area a lot living in Rogersville.
  13. Sure thing building a new skiff next week so will be out in two weeks or so hitting the river. Best part is the cost so far has been ultra low for this 11 footer. Last one I built ran me clse to $250+ this one is running me around $150. Plus can hold more then one over weight fisherman.
  14. Sweet thanks for the info will be the first time hitting the park with out being land locked to a bank.
  15. @Jack Jones: I usually have some nice experiences around the bridge on KK near Rogersville. Last year I made a minnow trap out of 3 Liter bottle and did good on live bait. Shoot me a PM maybe we can hit a few spots sometime.
  16. Building a new skiff for river fishing

  17. What are some good spots to put in at and what is the fishing like on the James in that area?
  18. I am going to be hitting the Finley hard this year. With gas prices as they are I may only make one or two trips up north to Truman and one to Tablerock. So I need to get my gear ready. I have a wide range of soft plastics but my spinners cranks and stick baits are lacking in the box. So what are some of the best ones to use for the area. I will be fishing my main area around KK then I will be around Linden and Oz Park. Plus I am using a 11 ft Flat Bottom rowing Skiff since I have yet to acquire a trolling motor or 5 hp outboard. So give me the run down like I said I know the KK area very well.
  19. I love hearing the old stories you guys got any pics of the area from back in the day? I was just talking to my fishing buddy earlier this week got some bad news and good news at the same time. I guess his old lady wasn't paying attention one night and crashed their car into my boat in their garage. So good news is I get to rebuild it and his grandfathers Jon boat apparently got damaged as well. So I get the 10hp outboard from it. I will be starting from scratch to accommodate the motor. With Power I will be able to get all around that lake. Just need the sun to start warming things up so I can get to work. Can't cure fiberglass in this cold weather, darn ground hog.
  20. How is fishing by old 13? That spot looked interesting to me.
  21. Yeah she made with 30 in. sides just like a old Clipper Skiff on the the old pole boats. Made her for launching out of the surf in Baja, Mexico. Since I travel Back and forth to California once in a while.
  22. Yeah, I'm coming from Springfield area. I go up to Clinton about once or twice a month and passing over the water has been tantalizing me for years. I first seen Truman in 2002 and it reminded me of fishing back in California just by the look. I have always wanted to fish the stumps for bass. I love fishing for Crappie as well I have a 10 foot row boat I built I haven't got it papered for a trolling motor yet but plan to in the future. Little thing can hold some weight as I weigh 360+ and my bfb weighs 400+. It can hold us both I was planning on putting 10 hp Honda, Johnson or Evinrude on her. So where are some good Crappie and White Spots and what bait would I use for the Whites?
  23. Been fishing here and there and finally decided it is time to take a good look at Truman. I am, wanting to know all I can for Shore, Boat, Camping Access along Hwy 13. I am making plans to hit it hard this season. What baits work best and the usual need to knows, thanks guys.
  24. I used to drive up to Vienna with a buddy from Rolla there is access there as well. And we would head south towards the overpass on 63. Great Bass and Cat fishing around that area. Some shallows to watch for but we used a 10 ft as well and Im a big boy and did fine.
  25. 1 gallon of water, Walmart Trail mix, beef Jerky (home made) about a pound of it, a couple sandwiches peanut butter and jelly and some kind of lunch meat and a candy bar. No Banana due to my hawaiin heritage Banana is bad luck on boat or fishing trip lol.
