  3. Cant wait to go fishing anytime anywhere just cant wait ready to go! ;)

  5. My friend said there has been fair action using minnows and jigs. Its always been a good place to go. They fish afternoons and nights mostly. I can't wait to get in on some fishing there myself moving back next Monday. I want to see how my lures will fair with the fish of the Ozarks.
  6. Greene County Area Lakes Information Hopefully this helps answer all the little questions. I been working on a Fishing Area Guide for Southern California and we are targeting County by County. I figured why not look up my favorite place in the U.S. and ran into this info. I may make a pamphlet guide for Missouri as well. Tight Lines and happy endings Jeff
  7. Mcdaniel Lake Bridge Closed There is an article I found about it online. Hope it helps a little bit. I will be moving back there to Springfield soon. Hopefully all is good and I can toss my own products at the bass there.

  9. I hear that Brian, I am moving back just to get my freshwater fix in and to see what kind of new baits for bass I can come up with. I want to make some specialty swimbaits for Fellows and Mcdaniel those are my two favorite in the Greene county area.
  10. What baits worked for you while fishing the bucketmouth at Mcdaniel? I usually fished for Cats there at night and early morning. I make my own swimbaits for a living and was wondering how plastics work there for bass. I am moving back to Springfield in two weeks to re estblich my bsiness in the Midwest. Would love any info you can suggest for me to try. Jeff
  11. Have you ever tried under the bridge there on 63. There are some nice deep pools around uner and above the bridge holding some really nice size fish.
  12. I got started back in the 80's while in grade school. My father was a comercial fisherman of hs own stick boat where they fished Albacore Tuna with Cane Poles and Feathers and Live bait at times. I would see the lures he would make with feathers and he showed me how to make them. Later influenced by the Rapalas we used I tried to make my own carved lures making a few poppers and billed diving baits. I later got into making my own Soft Plastics in the late 90's after working at several tackle stores on the west coast as a custom Rod Wrapper and Reel Repair Specialist. Currently after not being able to find work due the economy I have endevored to start my own lure company. Which I make my own Soft Plastics hand poured and made in the USA. I designed my own website and forum for the sport fishing community so I may have a marketing tool for my lures it has become a good pocket change provider as of yet. I curently have one style of bait but many more in the works which after doing some testing in the Ozarks I shall be releasing later this year. Making my own baits is a great accomplishment when you catch something on a bait you made and see that works. Especially when your out fishing the guy next to you and he asks where you got it. Its just something I made I tell em and their amazed by it. It is very relaxing also to make your own baits on rainy days or when you cant get out to fish. Im always molding clay into some kinda form to try out. Also always looking for people to try baits out. Its a great conversation starter.
  13. You should see whats happened in Mexico and California Already I have had a drop in sales due to some restriction on the west coast. They even made it Illegal in some areas that even Native Americans (Indians) can not fish on Reservation land or fish set aside ground for them any more. In Baja California some areas that the Sportfishing Boats go to are Off limits and they have passes that they give for bookoo dollars. I have been seeing it happen now for a year Texas is getting it bad too and some other gulf coast areas. My life economicaly right n ow revolves around fishing. Its how I pay my child support buy food and pay rent. But soon I may be with out like many other friends of mine on the west coast. Hell I just may move to Mexico cause to me it seems kinda un democratic the way things are going.
  14. Awsome reply there Terry, Luckily I have a few things going for me thus far. I can get my flies cheap and I know a little bit about tieing flys already. I think the best part is I wrap my own Rods and have custom built many fly rods. Having a business lisence is going to save my but a bit on cost since Ill get most things whole sale. Thank the lord they make the extra x waders lol Im definately going to need those. As for Wal mart they have been my competition for years when it comes to making custom rods cause some people are like I can got Walmart and get one. But like I tell them its notthe same as having your own custom job and there is no waranty on some of them. I am looking for guides and clubs now for the Phelps county area. Crossing my fingers my whole reason for wanting to get into fly fishing is so I can beable to be knowledgable for when someone wlks in my shop and asks me about it. Id like to say "I know a litttle bit let me show you some of what I know". I plan t open a tackle shop eventually in Rolla near 44, 63 and 72 for anglers from surrounding areas as all we have had there is a few places to buy worms and sometimes minnows. But I figure it would be a prime area as Meramac Springs isnt far. Thank you again Jeff
  15. Good suggestion thank you just edited post and added that to the thread. Do you have any suggestions as to where I may be able to take a class or know of any one capable of giving a good lesson on the how to's of fly fishing?
  16. I am considering trying out fly fishing for a second time in my life. My father took me before about 20 years ago in the High Sierras near Bishop and I haven't been since. I am an avid Rod and Reel type fisherman and would like to learn and gain knowledge of the basics. I am planning on targeting trout on the Meremac and Little Piney. Here are my questions: 1. What would be a good beginners outfit? 2. What Flies should I purchase for bass and trout? 3. I am a big husky fellow do they make xxxlg waders? 4. Can most of these things be purchased at Wal mart or where would you suggest I go to purchase my equipment? 5. What type of rigging will work best? 6. Are there any Fly fishing Classes available in the Phelps County Region or near there? (Question added after a good suggestion made thank you) Its funny that most of the time I can answer any question about fishing till it comes to Fly Fishing. So Ive decided to give it a go and there seems no better place then the Ozarks. Jeff
  17. Get the High strength 2 from alumilite it very durable and is one of the best I am currently using it on all my olds though this month it is on back order so they will send you the more expensive High Strength 3 I just got mine in the mail yesterday. I will be making my molds on sunday and see how the pours go on monday. I also make some 2 piece molds with the HS2 for hard body baits. Oh and the really cool thing is the rtv molds can also be used to pour leadheads and such. I just found that out recently from a friend in California who has been making his own and commercial soft plastics since the 70's. By the way if you go to Wal mart you can get Sculpey Clay for cheap to make your main forms before molding. I am going to see if my fiance can send me a phone before I get to Missouri I should be there no later then mid April. First thing I want to do is chase some bass on the Gasconade I used to have awsome luck there in April near Vienna. To to ya soon Aaron. Jeff
  18. Yeah its real bad here in Michigan I moved here in April of 08 took me til sept. 08 to find work then the compnay had lay offs in july 09. The only thing I got going for me sofar is 20+ yrs fishing and outdoors xperience. I used to run charters in California and Baja mexico. Currently I am working on my webstore I make and design soft plastic lures for fresh and salt water use. I am going to try to get a loan to start a outdoor outfitter in Phelps county with live bait and camping and fishing supplies. I fished the gasconade for several years and in the Greene county area. Im a see how things pan out when I get there. Im trying to get out there by April and have the shop by June. If not its ok I always find a way God willing.

  20. I know its late to mention and kinda ridiculous but I will be in Rolla Missouri this moth moving back finally. I have over 20 + years dealing in Repairs of Rods and Reels and willl be heading to Springfield 1 every two weeks to visit my kid on the weekends. During my free time while in the hotel room I can do fast turn arrounds on reels full service drags and lube cleaning. Repairs may take longer depending a availability of parts. Parts are extra cost. I charge a standard rate of $15 per reel unless you have multiple reels that need servicing. I have worked on Penn Shimano Daiwa Okuma Mitchel Shakespear Abu Garcia. I garranty my work for 6 months and repeat customers get discount. For more info PM me.
  21. I have been pouring my own soft plastics since 1997. Visit lurecraft.com they have all you need to make your molds and more. If you have any questions. Also you can google M-F Lure Molds. If you are interested in making your own molds I can help with that also as I design all my molds. You can also make hard body baits also. Just got to Alumilite.com for more info they have video tutorials. I am very knowledgable. I am moving back to Rolla Missouri this March and should soon have a 573 number by the end of the month. Jeff
  22. Try the east end I get good crappie & bass there. I used to get out of working in the Downtown Club then hit Fellows and Mcdaniel at 0200 - 0530 if I got off early it would be 0000hrs bet bring a lantern and rope for Mcdaniel.
  23. I sure wish you could get on Mcdaniel with a boat I have seen some bass down on the south west end that are spectacular. The catfishing there is awsome too. My best friend still patrols the lake there and still has to kick folks out of the woods sometimes we cant even go hiking through the woods to fish the shoreline it suck only fishing is near the bridge or off the bridge. I like the Idea of taking the props off I am going to ak if that would be ok to do Ill get back with yall on that one asap.....
  24. Welcome to the site I was once a baja enthusiast havent had a chance to read your book but I have heard of it mentioned on the bloodydecks forum once or twice. I grew in So. Cal. and had a place in Colonial Guererro Negro near San Quintin. Maybe we can trade stories sometime. Jeff
  25. No Boats at all permited on Mcdaniel, Springfield Lake has a HP Limit and I believe Fellows also has a limit on HP but you may want to call them on that one. I have fished all three and worked for the Security company that patrols these lakes. Jeff
