  1. Hey Phil, I'll do what I can. Let me know what your interested in and I'll see what I can do. John
  2. I agree with you Britts! BTW, nice looking dogs! I'm a paramedic in SE Kansas and we stood by while the local department got "tazer certified." It did not look pleasant at all! Thank god we don't carry them. I do like the idea of my wife being able to carry one for personal protection though. Just not sure if I want her to. I can see it now, waking up in the middle of the night flopping around like a fish out of water and her standing over me with "that glare." My wife may be small, but she's sneaky! John
  3. I'm still hurting from the laughing! The image in my mind right now is priceless! Great story! John
  4. Glad to hear your home and safe. Sounds like a "fun" trip. Next time take the rods and do a little "team building" training on the river. John
  5. Thanks everyone! This is actually our fourth! The first three were girls and I wouldn't trade anything for anyone of them. This is our daughters first though. The girls all belong to our son. And yes, grandkids are great! I told my son a while back that grandkids are OUR reward from God for letting him live through all the messes he got into. MrDucky, The baby became stressed during delivery and his heart rate dropped below 90 beats per minute. The doctor didn't think he could handle the stress of delivery and opted for an emergency c-section. During the procedure he got fluids in his lungs and was breathing the best. The hospital they were at decided they couldn't handle the baby IF things became worse and flew him to one with a NICU that was able to help if things took a turn for the worse. Thank God they didn't and everyone is doing great. John
  6. Our first grandson made his debut on Jan 24th at 9:18 a.m. Things were a bit scary at first. They had to do an emergency C-Section on our daughter and then Bryson was airlifted to Souix Falls. Grandma and myself made a hasty drive up north. We're back home now and all is well. Mom was released from Aberdeen, S.D. on Saturday and we took her down to Souix Falls to be with Bryson. We had stopped by Bryson's hospital on our way up and checked on him and his father; all was going great. The doctor's are saying they will release him on Monday and everyone will get to go home. He weighted in at 5 lbs 12 oz and measured 19 inches. Just under the slot limit but I think we'll sneak him out anyway. John
  7. My hats off to everyone involved. It was a great project and I'm glad the troops are enjoying the items. John
  8. I've seen a couple of ways to do this. I personally haven't tried them but here is what I've been told. First, get the yarn that you want to use. The guy that told me about them uses' McFly Foam (I think that's right). Next, get you some small rubber O-rings. Loop a section of the foam (cut to the length you like) thru the o-ring. Now make several wraps of thread around the yarn just above the o-ring. Tie off and use head cement to glue your thread. Clear as mud? ) Hope this helps. John
  9. Okay, my interest is up!? What are they? Ducky... You do superglue the ends back together when the thread breaks... Right? What? Nobody told you that? It's the ONLY proper way to recover from a broken thread... I disagree with Terry. The ONLY proper way is an overhand granny knot! John
  10. YIPEEEE! A reason to come back down to Taney! John
  11. I'm considering another trip down sometime this weekend. Not sure when exactly. Most likely will be Sunday or Monday though. Mr. Ducky, as for fees; there are no fees during the catch and release season. You will need your fishing license and trout permit only. I'm not sure about bringing home some dinner below the area. Someone else will have to answer that question. John
  12. I agree with Terry (Boy that's scary ) I still break my thread . . . ALOT. It just happens. John
  13. With the eggs the key is to pull the yarn up tight and then cut it. It will automatically form the round shape. Take the yarn and pull it at a 90 degree angle from the hook. Pull tight and then cut straight across with your scissors. I don't know why this works but it does. Hope this isn't too confusing. Maybe someone else with the gift of words can explain this better. John
  14. Welcome Skip, you couldn't ask for a better bunch of people to hang out with on the river or the "virtual river" here at OAF. Look forward to seeing you on the waters. John
  15. I don't mind at all. Welcome to the swap! John
  16. Okay Leonard; I accept the OT counter offer. And of course, Phil is invited. John
  17. Steve, sorry I missed ya. I think I saw you pulling out of the park but couldn't get your attention. Plus, I wasn't for sure it was you and didn't want to look the part of a fool so I didn't try to hard. We ended up taking my son's SUV cause my wife and his daughter wanted to fish as well. I'll be back down a few more times before the C&R ends. I'll let you know when my next trip is planned. Of course, Dano, your welcome to come along. John
  18. Oh Leonard!? I'll put up some of my "firehouse poppers" against your seahorses that the Bears come out on top. Of course we'd have to swap these over something cold to drink and some good fishin! Bears - 17, Colts - 13 John
  19. My teams didn't make it to the playoffs! But I'm glad to see da'bears and the colts in it. My daughter-in-law is a die hard Colts fan so you know who I'm root'in for . . . . GO BEARS! John
  20. Glad to have ya! And don't mind Dano, he sometime's forgets to take his medicine. John
  21. We were down there on Friday and had a great day as well. My son tied into a real nice female in the pools up above the park store. He had her all the way to the shore, I was ready with the net, and then she took one last run and broke off! It was still a good fight and a great fish. John
  22. I was there on Friday. I thought I remember the times being posted on the signs by the parking lots. But, now you've got me wondering? I do know they blow the whistle at 4 p.m. though. Glad to hear the ranger was a nice guy and didn't give out a ticket.
  23. Okay, I downloaded and started using it. I like it so far. I really like the spell check; this ol' redneck really needs that feature. John
  24. Nice brown! John
  25. 5:00 p.m. in ERIE, KANSAS. About four inches of wet snow on the ground. Roads are still drivable and KDOT is out working to keep them that way. Outside temp shows 32.2 degrees at my house. So far, so good. We'll have to wait and see what the night brings. John
