  1. Started snowing about 10:00 this morning. No sleet so far, but some pretty snow flakes. John
  2. Welcome aboard. John
  3. Dano, I was like you. Couldn't find that ONE box that would do everything. That is, until I found the C&F slit foam boxes. That's all I use now. The midge size holds my zebras, scuds, and soft hackles without a problems. The larger foam holds my streamers tight and neat. The key, is to get the one that you can change the foam in. They're a bit more in the long run, but you can put midge size foam on one side, and streamer on the other, and add an extra one in the middle for your dry's. They can't be beat. I'll be at RR tomorrow for the day. Come on over if you can and I'll show ya. John
  4. Steve, I'll be in a black Nissian Frontier. Camo stripe on bottom and OAF sticker on back bumper. John
  5. That's bad But worse yet, I understood it! John
  6. Sounds good. I'm going to try and get it today. John
  7. Sounds great! I'm in for sure. John
  8. Okay, you've got my interest up. I've always used IE and have upgraded to the 7.0 version. But all this talk about FireFox has me interested. I'll have to check it out. John
  9. Excellent read! The best yet. Two thumbs up. John
  10. $65 does seem a better set-up fee, but I don't think $90 is too out there. Especially if we can order directly from them on-line. Just my 0.02. Thanks for the leg work Troutchaser! John
  11. My son and I are considering another trip to RR before he has to go back to California. Anyone planning a trip this weekend? John
  12. WOW! In the EMS (emergency medical services) we call that "job security." Glad it turned out okay for him. Could have been REAL bad. John
  13. MOBass, It's a bit out of the way, but the Wal-Mart in Chanute has 7 generators. If I remember right they were $525 and I "believe" around 5000 watts. I could pick some up and deliever your way if that helps. I also saw electric heaters, but no gas types. I'm sure they have plenty of batteries and such. PM me if I can help out. John
  14. Welcome aboard! Smoked salmon sounds great! I haven't had any of that since my Navy day's and an opeation with some good ol' chaps from the Canadian Airforce. John
  15. Thanks Dano, It looked like it would be pretty simple, just wanted to make sure there weren't any hidden steps. There's a shop in Lamar that has a bunch of jig heads. I'll check the next time I'm over and see what size hook their on. I know he has several sizes in stock. I'll let you know when I get over there. John
  16. Hey Jeremy, How about posting the instructions to these fly's on the site. They look like some fish catching fools. Thanks, John
  17. That's a good looking jig. Are you going to share the steps to tying these? John
  18. A fly swap is an opportunity for several tyers to tie up a fly of their choice and swap with the other tyers in the group. As a rule you tie up enought fly's to cover the number of tyers in the swap +1 extra. So as an example, if we have 15 tyer's in this group, tie up 16 fly's. All tyers are welcome, new tyers as well as the experienced. It's a great opportunity to see what everyone else does. Hope this helps answer some of your questions. John
  19. I bet your Hafass Nymph will catch some trout. Let us know how it works. I can remember my first attempt at fly tying. I tried the good ol' wooley bugger. Talk about nasty! John
  20. Welcome aboard! Hope to meet you on the waters some day. John
  21. Thanks Dano. I'm trying to build up my rods for the trip to Alaska. If I can get by with a good rod for a better price on eBay I think I'm going that way. If not, I've already got my eye on a couple of TFO rods. John
  22. I've been looking at these rods on eBay and they seem to go for a fairly cheap price. I'm wanting to add a couple of heavier weight rods to my arsenal and this seems like a easy way to edge into it. Does anyone have any experience with this manufacturer or know anything about them. Thanks for you help. John
  23. I'm in! How about a #10 Black woolhead leech! John
  24. 3:45p.m. SE Kansas holding it's own. We got about 2 inches of sleet, no ice. The power lines and trees are fairing well. It's 21 degrees outside now. The weather guru's are calling for rain turning to freezing rain tonight and tomorrow with some snow mixed in. Overall I think they say about 5 inches total. We'll see? Hope everyone is holding up and being safe. John
  25. JJ, I'll check around here in my mess somewhere. I'm sure I have a couple lying around collecting dust. If I find them, I'll PM ya and get the address. John
