  1. Man what a disaster! I'm glad I'm not an insurance adjuster down there John
  2. I'll plan on being there as well. Have to double check with the "boss" but it should be okay. John
  3. Good article! Thanks for posting. John
  4. I personally don't have any knowledge about flyfishing in Hawaii, but if you need a guide? Take lots of pictures for us back here with the snow and cold. John
  5. Dano started it!
  6. Welcome to the forum. You'll find a lot of great people here and plenty to talk about. Look forward to seeing you on the waters. John
  7. You mean the qiant man eating squid of Taneycomo is not real? Sheesh I wasted a lot of time chasing that thing. I could have been onto the man eating beaver. John
  8. Welcome to the forum. We're a bit crazy but overall a good group to hang around with. Watch out for Terry though. John
  9. Okay, here's one from my days at the firehouse. We call it "firehouse poppers." Three boneless chicken breasts Jar of jalapenos pound of bacon. Cut the bacon strips in half (so you end up with two short pieces), now lay that aside for the time being. Slice the chicken breasts into 1" wide slices. Take 1-3 jalapenos, depending on how hot you want it, and place them onto the middle of one of your chicken slices. Now roll the chicken slice up, with the jalapenos in the middle, wrap with one of the pieces of bacon around the chicken roll and pin together with a toothpick. Once your done, put them on a grill and cook until done. Usually takes about 10-15 minutes on a high flame. No need to season, the peppers and bacon take care of that. Enjoy, and remember, the cook MUST ALWAYS sample a few while cooking to make sure they are done. John OH come on now! I just noticed the name of the fish under my avatar!
  10. Great idea Flem! I hadn't thought about the fly box thing. I'll have to try that. Thanks. John
  11. I get mine from hobby lobby. The 2mm children's foam. I forget how many sheets you get, but there's a bunch in all kinds of colors. John
  12. Terry, I've added the receipe for the seaweed soup on the receipe page. If you have any questions let me know. Hope you enjoy. John
  13. Here is the receipe for my wife's "world famous" seaweed soup. She picked this receipe up while we were stationed in the Azores from 1983-86. It's a local favorite that translates to "green soup." She "americanized" it by adding the sausage. In it's original form there is no meat. Ingredients 6-8 Medium potatoes 2 cups finely shredded cabbage 2 cups finely chopped spinach 2 tablespoons of olive oil Peel, chop, and boil potatoes until it becomes a medium thickness broth. Add cabbage, spinach and olive oil to the broth and continue cooking until all ingredients are cooked into a thick soup. The wife say’s this is about an hour. The soup should take on a light green color. You can add meat to your preference if you wish. Sue, uses smoked sausage and cubes it up. Enjoy! John
  14. You are a brave man Leonard! My hat is off to ya. John
  15. I had snow knee deep in my driveway this morning when I left for work. No 4x4, and no blade! Took me 45 minutes to get out of the drive and one block from the house. After that, the going was much better with the main roads and highways bladed. John
  16. Your all sick! And if you go thru with it you will be sick! John
  17. It started sleeting about 2 p.m. this afternoon and turned to snow shortly afterward. We have about 4 inches on the ground now and they are predicting 5-8 before morning. John
  18. The "seaweed" soup is a Portuguese receipe that we got when I was stationed in the Azores. It's actually a mix of olive oil, water, potatoes, spinach, and cabbage blended to a fine mix and then slow cooked. It has a slight green tint and the long strands of spinach looks like seaweed, hence the name. My wife adds chopped polish sausage to give it some meat. It's actually pretty good. John
  19. I was watching early today, about 6:00 p.m. their time. Saw a couple of Hartebeest (I think), a herd of Wildebeast with a couple of young that couldn't have been over a day old, a heard of Zebra, an elephant and a couple of Impala's. This site is a great one. I leave it on most of the day just for the sounds. Kinda relaxing. Sorry I missed the lion Thanks for the link Phil. John
  20. Seaweed soup and polish sausage! Can't go wrong there! Think I'll have to make some up for supper. John
  21. Will have my letter in the mail today. Thanks for the heads up Dano. John
  22. No one will bet LMW's true story! John
  23. Now that's cool! I'm watching it at 5p here and it's night there. I thought I could hear something growling, but never showed. This will be just as good and interesting as the trout cam. John
  24. Sounds like a good day on the water, but of course ANY day on the water is a good day. Thanks for the report. John
