  1. I'll be between outlet #2 and the rebar. Hope you can make.
  2. Welcome duckydoty. I'll add you to the list.
  3. The first step is to get a list going of the tyer's and their fly's. Once you have your fly's done; you then tag them and mail them to the host. Once all the fly's are in, the host mails them to the participants. As for the tag; I've used a business card, or something similiar, and attached the fly to it, with a description and the tyer's name. I'll start things off with the fly list. 1. John Jackson - Squirrel Zonker I'll keep the master list and update everyone as it grows. Once we have 25 tyer's the list will be closed.
  4. Okay. Here's what I was thinking. This is only my second swap so I'm new. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I was thinking we could limit it to 25 tyers. Each tyer could tie their favorite fly; no duplications please. Set a time limit to turn the fly's in. Not too short of a time, but not too long as well. I'd be willing to host the swap so the fly's could be sent to me and then I'd mail them out to the participants. Or, if anyone else is interested in hosting, that would be okay as well. Have I missed anything?
  5. Just had a thought. Has anyone ever tried a fly swap? Are there any interested?
  6. Dano, Are you and JoRoB going to be able to make this weekend?
  7. I have the same problem! I ended up buyging stocking foot waders with boots that fit. It was probably the best move I've made. The problem with boot foot waders is in order to get it to fit around the mid section you have to have a size 13+ boot. That doesn't work well with my size 9's. I guess I know the problem now. I'm not overweight . . . I'm under foot size. Anyway; with the stocking foot I can get a wader that fits me real comfortable and a boot that is equally as comfortable to wear for those long days in the water. Tell your friends to try this out and see what they think. Best of luck ya old "jarhead". That's from a squid so smile brother. Semper Fi!
  8. Leonard, I'll give ya a call. I can't make it Friday as I'm working. But for sure on Saturday. Just remember, I'm a greenhorn at the night fishing.
  9. I'll have a green tilley hat with a green vest.
  10. I'm planning a trip to Taney this weekend. I'll be there Saturday and Sunday if anyone is interested in hooking up and doing some fishing. I'd like to try some night fishing on Saturday night since I've never done it and it sounds fun.
  11. Wow, I can't believe it's been five months since I last posted. Time really does fly. I've had to revamp my thinking regarding the posting. Due to some confidentiality issues I will no longer post a synopsis of our runs. I would still like to post about our runs, I'm just not sure how. Any ideas would be welcome. Let me know if you would like me to continue. My family is growing. John and Stephanie are expecting another child. A girl! My daughter, Jacqui, and her husband, Lee, are expecting their first. I can't wait. That will make four grandchildren and a ton of fun to come! John has got orders to Japan for three years so that's a bummer. But, It's great that he gets to see the world and his family will be able to go along. Sue, my wife, isn't near as happy about it as I am. That's the mom and grandma in her. As for work, I've been moved up to shift supervisor. I'm into my second month of it and it's going real well. One nice benefit is that I no longer move from station to station each month. I get to stay at the HQ station. Not having to pack up and move each month is nice! Well that's about it for now. I'll try to post a little faster next time. Take care and be safe.
  12. I like the experiment. I didn't know those little things moved around so much. It was very interesting watching the action.
  13. Maybe this is something we can all watch for. The truck I mean. With the description and tag number you gave, and as many of us that get out at all times of the day and night, maybe we can see them and call the agent. I'm not saying to intervene, simply to make the call when we see them.
  14. Nice fish! Also enjoyed the story that went with it. John
  15. Russ, I haven't had any personal experience with XM radio. But, I have several friends that keep telling me I need to switch to it. They all swear by it and say it's the best thing going in radio. You can get channels that play your type of music only. But, of course you know that already. I have one friend in particular that does a lot of traveling and she tells me that she never looses the channel regardless of where she goes. In other words, you don't have to channel surf as you drive down the highway like with regular AM or FM. Hope this helps. John
  16. Well Dano, I can't help with the first two but #3; the Ugly Zebra Midge is simple. That's any of the zebra's I tie I'll send ya a few if you want.
  17. I'm game for a caricature as well.
  18. My granddaughter and I have attended the last three Kid's Day at Roaring River and it's always been a great time for both of us. She caught her first fish two years ago at the Kid's Day. Like Dano, my hats off to the organizer's and all the volunteers, they do a great job. We're going to have to miss this year's because of a class I'm at in Topeka, but we're already planning next year's trip.
  19. Thanks everyone for the input. I think I even have one of those moustache/beard combs laying around somewhere. That sounds like it would work great! John
  20. Tim, Thanks for the info. I'll give it a try. John
  21. My eyes are too old to even see that small let along be able to tell my fingers what to do! Does sound like fun fishing though!
  22. Same here! Although I will sometimes sneak up to a size 16.
  23. Excellent story! Great Fish!
  24. The pine cone is an excellent pattern. I use it frequently and have several back-ups in the fly box. I've used mostly the natural color. It's great at Taney as well.
