  1. Would that be John's "Double Your Money Back Guaranteed" Pattern? I got one from him at the SowBug and it truly is a killer. John
  2. I'm also going to have to bow out. Like Steve, I just found out that's Roaring River's Kids Day and this is an annual event for me and my granddaughter. This will be her fourth and I can't/won't miss it. Sorry guys! John
  3. Have fun Grandpa! Sorry you won't be there with us, but your plans are MUCH more important and fun than what we have planned. Hope to see ya on the water some time soon. John
  4. Put me down for weekday! John
  5. Another good one Terry! I'm still hurting at the picture I got in my mind when you made "the fall." John
  6. If your fly fishing; I like the area (in zone 1) just up from the big dam. I fish between the first handicap pier to the dam and have had good luck there. You can't go wrong with a crackleback on top or a wooly bugger if you like streamers. A "bedspread" works great also if you like to sight fish. Hope this helps. John
  7. Excellent point CC! Remember the day's when you acted up at school and was sent to the principals office? And, you had better tell mom or dad before they heard it from someone else! We learned that if we broke the rules there were consequences. Today's kids have not had to learn that. Parent's are not allowed to discipline their own kids for fear of being charge with child abuse. Teachers are not allowed to discipline kids either. What motivation is there for these young people to follow the rules - they've learned that there are no consequences. "What; I have to go to time out!" The best motivation I learned was at the end of my mother's belt or the principals paddle. It only took once for me to modify my behavior and to learn that that was unacceptable behavior. I place the blame for most of our society's ills with the fall of corporal punishment in the school and at home. That's not to say that the violence on TV has not lent it's hand into this as well. Ahhhh, the good ol' days of playing outside all day as long as you were in before the street lights came on. Andy, the Walton's, the Beav! Those shows were good entertainment that always had a message attached. Can we go back? John
  8. Glad to hear that all is well. As a street medic I'm all too familiar with the scare caused by low blood sugar. I'm glad to hear that it turned out well. John
  9. Thanks Dano. Don't know if I can make that long haul for a day trip. Maybe next time. John
  10. Good review. Thanks for the "heads-up." I'll have to check them out the next time I'm in the market for a new pair. Unfortunately, I just bought a new pair so it may be a while. John
  11. Rolan has agreed to photo the flies submitted to our swaps. See his and Dano's post on this subject. I suggest that we add a set for him if everyone is agreeable. John
  12. Rolan is too kind! I think, as long as he is agreeable, we should automatically include him in all swaps. Not that he ties any, but that he gets a set for the effort. Thanks for the generous offer Rolan. John
  13. Another great one Terry! How true the words ring home. BTW; let me know when you find that automatic fishing catching machine. John
  14. Where, exactly, is this going to be? If I can make it, I'll be driving from S.E. Kansas (Erie). Thanks. John
  15. Glad to hear everything turned out okay! Hope to see ya back on the water soon. John
  16. I just don't understand that John I'll be watch'in! John J.
  17. I WANT ONE!!!!!!!! John
  18. Now that's a fantastic photo! I'll have to keep a copy of this for my files. John
  19. Thanks for the work Phil. I noticed the extra speed in loading when I signed on. John
  20. Got it! Thanks Terry. John
  21. It has started to snow here in Erie. The National Weather Service is saying we could get from 1 to 3 inches of the white stuff overnight. Can you believe this!? And, my lawn needs mowed. I can see it now . . . using the snow blower to clean the yard so I can mow it! John
  22. The schedule is the same all the time. I basically work every third day. I work tomorrow (Friday); I'll be off Saturday and Sunday and then work again on Monday. If you let me know some dates you are thinking of, I can let you know what works good for me. I can also trade shifts with someone and end up with four days off instead of just two. So, really my schedule is fairly flexible. John
  23. Same thing . . . couldn't get anything to show with the search. John
  24. Either place is good for me. I fish Bennett quite often, but have only been to Montauk once, so a new adventure there would be good. The only thing that stands in my way is my work schedule. On for 24 hours - off for 48 hours. John
