  1. I'm interested but won't have the useable cash until the end of the month. If you still have it then we will talk.
  2. All right . . . share? Let us know how the fly's work out and what they are. I wish I could be there, but I just got off a 36 hour shift and think I'll take a bit of a nap. Good luck! John
  3. We were fishing during the day. It was just after noon and was overcast. That was the first time I'd tried the Mickey Finn and had a blast with it. I'll be using it more now.
  4. Hook: #8 Streamer Thread: Black 6/0 Rib: Silver wire Body: Medium flat silver tinsel Wing: From top to bottom: yellow, red, yellow bucktail Head: Loon hard head The browns really loved this streamer this past weekend (April 23rd) at Taney.
  5. Hook: #8 Streamer Thread: Black 6/0 Tail: Green bucktail Rib: Fine flat silver tinsel Body: Pink dubbing Throat: Pink bucktail Wing: from bottom to top; White, pink, green bucktail Head: Loon hard head I used this at Taney this past weekend (April 23rd) with some success. The browns really liked it and a couple of bows fell to it as well.
  6. The wife and I slipped off for a few hours of fishing today. It's a long drive down (almost three hours), but was well worth it just to get out and get into the water. We fished for about 3 hours and ended up with just over 10 fish between the two of us. Sue did catch and land her first fish "by herself" today. It was a brown about 12" long. I think she's hooked and I have a new fishing partner! We fished from just below outlet #2 to the rebar hole. The Zebra midge #16 and #18 topped of the "A" list. Closely followed by a #8 Mikey Finn and a #8 Baby Rainbow Bucktail Streamer. The browns couldn't leave the Mickey Finn alone. Once the thunderstorms rolled in we decided it was time to head back to Kansas. All in all it was a great day. Good weather (to start with), good company and some good fishing. Can't wait until we can sneek off again. Maybe this time we can spend a couple of days instead of just a few hours. Tight Lines . . . John
  7. I have to agree . . . Roaring River is the place for kids. It is very kid friendly. That's where I talk my granddaughter. As Tim mentioned, Kids day is coming up and it is a must do for anyone with children. This will be my granddaughters fourth year and is very enjoyable. There is plenty for the kids to do there if they get bored. Check it out. John
  8. That's a great fish! And something he's going to remember for some time. The best part . . . you and your dad got to be there with him. Think we have another fisher amoung us? I can still remember when my son got his first fish, first turkey and first deer! Have the pictures all around my desk. It is indeed a fine momemt! Congrats to the both of you. John
  9. I'm looking for a quick and easy method of cleaning the "fuzz" from deer and elk hair before tying it in. I was told a toothbrush works good, but haven't had much look. I've tried velcro with even less results. I know there are commercial combs you can buy but was interested in some of your little tricks, tips, or suggestions. Thanks in advance for your help. John
  10. Snow Fly: I should have know that! Copper John is one of my favorite's. I must have had a "senior" momemt. I just couldn't put it together. Your right about the Crackleback. I've never had much luck with the pheasant tail. I do like the zebra midge though. John
  11. GregST: I'm drawing a blank. What is the BHCJ? I understand it's a bead head, just can't get the CJ part. Thanks. John
  12. Headed over to Bennet on Friday evening after getting off work. We had planned on leaving at 8:00 a.m. when I got off work, but we had another medic call in sick so I didn't get to leave until almost 3:00 p.m. Lucky for us we got the last campsite available in the campground #5. We got up early and headed to the stream. Fished in zone 1 from the Holland darn down to the riffles just past the last fishing jetty. The fishing was pretty good but rain and storms moved in mid morning. I stayed and fished until it started with the lightening. Decided water and strong electric bolts didn't go together. We waited out the weather and it cleared up just after noon. Fished until almost 5:30 p.m. The heavy winds moved in and made it difficult but you could still fish. The fishing got tougher after the rain and when the storms were over the crowds came out. All in all it was a good day. Of course, any day fishing is a good day! Total for the day: 10 rainbows and one blue gill. The biggest bow was 15". The rest I'd say were average size (10-12 inches). The best fly for the weekend: a #18 zebra midge hands down! Followed by an olive dubbed jig w/ brown marabou tail. I had only made three of these and they didn't last long. I had tried a new idea and it seems to work. I guess it's time to get back to the tying bench. John
  13. Just got back in from a weekend of fishing. Hope everything is working out for the youngster! We will say a prayer for them.
  14. Kansas has the same problem. KDWP will not admit that big cats are here. I used to be one of those that believed people saw what they wanted and claimed that a big cat was around. That is until one day when I was driving home late from work. I had one cross in front of me not a mile from my home. When I asked a local KDWP agent I got the old standby, "Kansas does not have cougars." Yes some may be escapees, but the bottom line they are here. Animals migrate, period! We use to not have amardillos, but now you can't drive down a road without seeing several dead along the road. I asked that same agent what would happen if I killed one. He said I would be in trouble for shooting an endagered animal. But if they don't exist in Kansas then I must have shot something else, right?
  15. Thanks for all the help. John
  16. Thanks. You can email them to me if you don't want to post them here.
  17. You mention, "get alot more than listed on the website." What exactly are you talking about? Different boats or more options? I've been interested in a pontoon boat but just haven't found the one that suits me. Although, I would agree, the TU boat has been the one I like the most so far. John
  18. I caught a 4 1/2 pound brown at Bennett last year site fishing a white jig.
  19. Awesome pictures! Those are the type that only come once in a lifetime. John
  20. Thanks Dano, I'll sure make plans for another attempt at making it to Mountain Home. John
  21. Dano, I'll sure try for the Conclave. You wouldn't happen to have the dates yet would ya? John
  22. Great pictures Dano! I'm still frettin cause I didn't get to go. Maybe next year John
  23. I have several cards of antron yarn that I do not use and was wondering if I could cut this up and blend to make some dubbing out of it. I really like antron dubbing and was curious if I could salvage this yard. Any help and/or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks, John
  24. Captain, Thinking about making a trip down there this Saturday myself. I'll look you up if we make it. I'll be wearing an olive Tilley Hat and Olive vest. Hope to see ya. John
