Don’t buy the white red and black styrofoam slip bobbers. They suck. I like the bamboo ones. I guess they’re bamboo anyway I can see them a little better too.

We’ve owned our farm outside of Willard for almost five years now. Couldn’t be happier with the school system. Last year we had our toy hauler parked at a very nice resort on pomme lake. Corps makes you take your camper off of its pad for three months during the winter. During that time we found a cabin we liked on the river below pomme dam. We really like it and it’s location. We can fish the pomme river with a short walk. Very short drive to fish Truman or pomme. And i don’t mind making the drive to Stockton. We really like it so far. All the small towns have grocery stores or st least a dollar general. As far as the lake goes, I like the lightfoot area the best.

I know but my oldest is four so I just can't bring myself to go fishing without her. I'll probably miss it in April for white bass fishing.

Just bought a boat for the wife and kids so it's time for my fishing kayak to go. Purchased March 2014 at omtc in ozark. It's still in great shape. It's got a nice lowrance color fish finder, battery, harmony paddle, two rod holders on ram ball, crate, homemade anchor trolley. This is a fantastic kayak and very very stable. Looking for $1000obo. the one in the front is 11 months old @ 140lbs. Gonna breed him to the female in the back right. She's five years old at about 90 pounds. The males father was 235pounds but I don't think he'll get anywhere near that big.

There was four of them at greenfield last night and two more headed that way when I left. Really cool looking rigs, nice quiet generators. Surely they slayed the carp, I've been catching quite a few of them while crappie fishing from my kayak. They put on a heck of a fight but start to annoy me the older I get.

After reading that and my experience.....I'll never put the transducer in the hull again.

For clarification. I did reset the defaults in the menu. And did a soft reset during start up as well. Yes the manual did state that through hull installation was fine, but I was told lowrance didn't address that for the hdi manual. The transducer burned up. It wasn't making the clicking sound it was when it was new. The one I have now is more simple, smaller transducer, mounted in the scupper, and if it dosnt last, I'll cut my ties with the Mexican lowrance units.

Yea it never got dislodged. It just burned up. that transducer was easily 1 inch to wide to put into the scrupper groove. I would have tore it off in no time. The new one is about 1/3 the size. Will probably use less juice as well without it being downscan and no GPS.

I got my cash back, and then bought a lowrance elite 3x. Not so fancy this time, and pocketed $100. It was th exact same price at acadamy, but I was already at Bp. Transducer will fit in the scupper hole, and I'm told it will last longer they're. We'll see.

I'll also add, that's great advise on going to acadamy. I would have done that in the first place but bp had a sale on that particular model. I bought a rapala lithium ion cordless filet knife the other day from acadamy, $20 cheaper than basspro. Looks like quite a few acadamy items are cheaper than Bp.

I can mount the transducer in the water through my scupper hole.....as long as it's not a hdi transducer like I had, it was easily three times the size of a normal transducer.

Here's the story..... I buy a lowrance elite 4 hdi on sale in February for 199 from basspro. Had omtc put the head unit on a ram ball and put the transducer in marine goop inside the hull. Small 12v 7ah battery in a dry box to power it. Works great the first four times I take it out. GPS, downscan, sonar, I like the unit. On the fifth time out I notice the unit flashing 60.0 ft no matter where I go. I do a soft reset, check connections, nothing. Strike one. I called lowrance, they said to take it up to basspro and see if it's the unit or the transducer. I take it up there and they look at it for 30 minutes. Try to update the software, and then they bring in a manager. I asked them to hook it to a different transducer to see if it's the unit or not, and they won't. He tells me they won't because the transducer needs to be in the water. I said well that's crap because my transducer is in the hull. He then tells me that's why the transducer burned up and that it's designed to be in the water because it's hdi or downscan or whatever. . I said more bs, the manual that came with it says through hull installation is fine, and actually tells you how to install it that way. He then tells me that's because lowrance doesn't make their manuals for specific models. Strike two for Lowrance. He tells me they probably won't warranty it because of incorrect installation. Strike three. They tried to get me to exchange it for another. I said no. Then they said he would give me store credit. I told him no that won't fly with me. So he's giving me my money back for it tomorrow when I bring it all in. He even tells me that transducers only last 5-10 years if you take care of it. Here are my questions. After all that bs, should I be looking into a different fish finder company? The ram ball I bought from omtc is set up for lowrancE unfortunately. Would I be alright getting a cheaper lowrance model and hope that the non hdi transducer won't burn up in the hull? Should I cut my ties with lowrance? I thought I would be happy with having downscan, GPS, the works. Now I just want a dang depth reading.

Caught quite a few tonight around 6:30. Up lake from cc. It was windy but calmed down as it got closer to dark. Turkeys gobbling everywhere. I managed 15 short crappie, 3 small keepers(released them), and one very nice largemouth that gave me a nice ride. Minnows 4ft under a slip bobber. Ten feet off the bank in 12 fow

Yea the trading post has minnows. It's on 160 highway right as you come Into town.

Not sure if it's legal, but an atv would sure be a lot better than a truck. you could drive right around all the massive holes and truck parts that have been torn off and lying everywhere. Lol.

Not yet. I'm thinking two more weeks. Maybe next week with the warm weather like it is.

Can't wait to see that beautiful monster dog down there walking around while I'm fishing.

He was open every day from 7 to 7 last year. Good minnows. Also wondering If he has opened up yet.
