I'm still a newbie and have only been out in mine 4 times. Where else do you go in your yak? Just curious.

Last time I was at Taylor's I came within 10 feet of a gentlemen in a gray ascend kayak before I could see him. He was getting out of the wind and I was concentrating on not falling in the colds water in front of my friends. I'm in a green wilderness 115. Saturday is looking like the next chance I will get to do some fishing.

Hate to hear that. I had a similar experience. Crawled under my wife's jeep and got the plug then the filter off. Then it decided to open up. And wouldn't you know it if every single bit of water on the front of the jeep was pouring on me while putting the new filter back on. So I got drenched as well. I'm looking to get back down there myself. Hopefully this weather will be things gong. By the way what kind of kayak are you using?

It shouldn't be flowing too awful fast. Last time is was there I couldn't even tell if their was a current or back flow. I'm not going to make it in the morning. Not messing around with this cold front. Good luck if you go and be careful. There's a few log jams. And of course the water is still cold.

Depending on the weather, might see you down there frozenfingers. I will be the only 320pounder in a bright green ride 115.

I like kayaking around Taylor's and Orleans. Some nice person dug a ditch out at Orleans in the mud and you can run your kayak up in it and get out without getting your feet wet. Has the bite gotten better yet?

Whites And Crappy Starting To Run
Rick Baker replied to lady fisher's topic in Sac & Little Sac Rivers
I floated from Taylor's to Orleans and on last week and didn't get a bite until the steel bridge. And didn't catch a decent one until I got passed the steel bridge and around the corner. The bite was very light. Good luck guys. This rain should help things. -

They have rescheduled it for Saturday at 7:30. The Facebook page said they will have some experienced guys down there helping out he newbies. I'm gonna go down there and see how everyone is running their transducers and get a feel for how everyone rigs their boats and what hey like and don't like. Might see a few of you down there. Say hi to me. I will probably be the only big guy in a bright green yak. -

I just wanted them for trolling and crappie fishing. I could always slide them forward if the get in the way. But I could certainly understand your point of them getting in the way when you're trying to land a fish. -

Have any of you guys ever camped with a hammock. Like a Hennessy or eagles nest outfitters? I'm thinking on purchasing the eno doublenest. Sure would save a lot of weight and room on a kayak camping trip. -

Scott, I seen something about the golf balls on a forum. Thanks for reminding me. Will try that out. Ness, your avatar looks familiar. I'm hiddenhoneyhole in mwt. Glory. I agree 100%. I've already found I'm not interested in reaching behind me for rod holders. I don't even like reaching behind me for my paddle holder. I think two rod holders on the sliding tracks is all I will ever need. After the first trip out fishing in it that very night I rigged up an anchor trolly line and some short peices of cord to attach my small tackle and dry boxes. I won't cut or drill any holes in this yak until I'm for certain it's something I need. I found this picture. It's kinda what I'd like mine to look like. Fish finder. Sliding rod holders. Better paddle holder. -

Another thing I find outrageously expensive. $200 for a rudder. I never imagined I needed one until even small gusts of winds were turning me. A rudder will be very last in my list. I will have a hummingbird piranhamax and scupper transducer and all kinds of rod holders before I ever buy that rudder. -

I appreciate the awesome advise guys. When it comes time for me to venture out on the lake I'm going to go all out with lighting. I might as well since I will already have the bat for a fish finder. I figure a red/green light up front and a clear pole on the back just like a boat. I went out on my second float with it the other day from Taylor's bridge to Orleans bridge and a little ways around d the corner. For being 6'6 320ish pounds plus gear I cannot explain enough how stable the ride 115 is. So amazing. Little sac was my first trip in it fishing. That very night I installed an anchor trolly system. The rod holders are so expensive but they are needed and I also need scupper plugs. Did manage to catch a few whites once we got to Orleans bridge. I'm addicted already. I've got a cable lock running through a scupper hole to the d ring on my truck so I just leave the yak in there all he time. Wake up in the morning and kiss the wife and daughter goodbye before they even wake up. -

That figures on the James. It gets pretty hairy in April at times. Here's pics from today. I'm really really happy with the ride 115. -

I looked for about ten minutes and couldn't find a blemish. They said they're small. I'm very happy with it. Took it out to lake Springfield today and it's extremely stable. If I had a leash I could probably stand on it. Really easy to haul even in my super crew with 5.5 bed. Glad I didn't go with the ride 135 for that reason. Thanks for the help guys. It sure is an awesome yak. -

FYI. Not exactly trying to get chopped up by a boat at night. But thanks for looking out. That center hatch has no container. It is open. I have seen some with nets in them. I really like this yak a lot. I'm looking forward to catching whites and eventually some crappie with it. -

I'm not much for paddling like I am sitting I one spot, anchored, fishing and drinking a beer. . I picked it up today. I think. My daughter is trying to lay claim to it. -

Yea that's pricey but eventually I will have something like that. Wanted a small fish finder anyway so I will already have the bat for a light. These angler kayaks sure are cool. I've already been looking at DIY stakeout polls, anchor trolly systems. You can almost do anything with them that you can do to flat bottom. -

Thank you. They only "suggest" a flashlight. I can do better than that. Honestly I've never seen anyone kayak at Stockton and thought maybe it was illegal. Appreciate it. -

I'm familiar with stocktons wind. Was just curious about the regs. Are lights required to run them at night just like boats? I would be staying close to shore at night but need to know the laws. Those Jackson kayaks are awesome but wow pricey. That big tuna is something else. The omtc crew was pretty good to deal with. -
What are the rules about taking a kayak out onto the main body of Stockton or pomme? I put a blemished wilderness systems ride 115 on layaway today at Ozark mountain trading company in Ozark. What a really cool store. My first trips planned are. Below Stockton dam. Below pomme dam. And below Bennett springs access. And probably several trips below Aldrich. So what's the rules for on the lake?

Taneycomo Fishing Report: 12/3/2010, 12/4/2010
Rick Baker replied to MaxDrown's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
I can second everything on here also. I have seen kris' cabins lately. They have a/c, stoves, fridges. He put me and some friends on the bass on table rock. And i cant wait to go trout fishing with him on taneycomo.
