  1. I haven't heard anything about them working on the dam but I did look at their generation schedule and they are back to full throttle tomorrow. I guess the lake will be dropping some more.
  2. Man that sucks!! The important thing is that you guys are allright. That is why I always wear my life jacket when I am running down the lake. You never know what will happen.
  3. I hate to admit it but I once dropped the tailgate of my truck on all three rods I owned. Broke everyone of them in half. Boy did I look stupid that day fishing on the lake. lol
  4. Thanks alot blue79.
  5. Nice batch of fish zarraspook. You caught all of those in an hour....I am impressed. Blue79, how deep were the cats? Were they on a rocky bank?
  6. Minnows
  7. I have attached a recent article which studied the effects on trolling for crappie on harvest rates. It said that in recent years fisherman are getting away from using a single pole for crappie in hte summer around cover and going to trolling with multiple poles. This is putting an increase burden on crappie populations. Interesting reading. NAJFM1.doc
  8. It is a beginning. Soon you will be racking them in.
  9. Good Luck Justin Knock them dead!!!
  10. A lot windier than I expected today. Real hard to keep that pontoon boat on my spots. Most of my spots weren't protected. Only managed 11 keeper crappie and 2 cats, a 3 and a 5 lber. When I close my eyes I still feel like I am bouncing up and down. lol
  11. Doing well on channels during the day. Each time the wife and I go crappie fishing we set out a line for cats at each stop and always catch 2 or 3. Recently a 8.7 lber and today a 5 lber among those. Still on the rocky areas about 5 to 10' deep.
  12. The wife and I finally got the old pontoon boat out on the lake today. With all the vacationers gone it was real quiet. Headed up to Shaw's Bluff area. I remembered that 'gobbler' had caught his at 7 to 10' on brush piles so we started out there. Hit 4 brush piles with only 2 having any crappie on them. Those two brush piles must have yeilded a good 60 or more crappie! We came back with our two limits (one of which was 15') and 2 nice channels. With no boats on the lake it was great. fish were 6 to 8' deep and the bite was a little light but not bad.
  13. Well done oh great gobbler!!
  14. My sympathy on the loss of your grandfather. The loss of that kind of sportsman is a loss for us all. It sounds like you are passing on his traditions to your sonn and for that you should be proud. I tip my hat to you.
  15. Yep, minnows. with all the water skiers and personal water craft it probably won't matter where you go. lol I probably would do Ruark and head south into the timber areas like Birch Branch. Hard to water ski in timber. lol
  16. Made 4 stops today. Came up with 10 keeper crappie with no real pattern. Water temps were from 75 to 77. Late this afternoon did manage to get a small channel and a big male channel that weighted in at 8.7 lb. That was not only a good fight but also a pealed thumb!! lol
  17. Now that is cool with a capital K. I can definitely use that. Thanks Zarraspook.
  18. Great report packersoon. Thanks for the good info. Sounds like you did well.
  19. Congrats and I hope you two have many more fun trips together for years to come.
  20. Thanks for the info 9lb. I have been debating about even going near the lake this weekend...I think I will just stay home and take it easy. Too many idiots on the lake and too many idiots on the road.
  21. Ditto fishbait3 and smbasser on Fin and Feather.
  22. Considering you are out of Bona, Cedar Ridge sounds good. From Cedar Ridge to High Point should get you in the right area!!
  23. I am planning 3 stops tomorow for cats with the last one at the CC rock rip rap. Probably hit there around 12 noon or shortly after. I will try and be on the north side of the rip rap. I will be wearing blue jeans and a dark blue shirt (of course a straw hat, lol). Stop by and chew the fat.
  24. Walcrabass speaks the truth. On whites in particular you might try this... Fillet them, scrape the dark red meat off the fillets on the side that was attached to the skin. The fillets are pretty edible then but I think they are really good if you put some lemon oil on them over night (this removes any remaining strong taste just like the white vinegar) then rinse and cook as any other fillet. I am not a big fish eater but the people at church sure gobble them up.
  25. OOOPPPSS I missed the date in the title. Getting old, blind and stupid is a bummer. lol
