  1. Thanks for the information!
  2. I guess to me it only seems like a half mile because I usually pass it going 25 MPH BTW I've never had trouble running that stretch with my jet, even in the summer. I need to know exactly how many plan to camp overnight, please let me know.
  3. This aint gonna be no Brokeback Mountain event! Anyway, Drew can't go the 25-26th of June and Al can't go after mid July, so I suggest Saturday July 9th at Boiling Springs campground on the Gasconade. I've never set one of these up but I'l call the campground today and ask some questions. I personally don't have any camping equipment so I'll just bring lawn chairs. I'm pretty sure they already have permanent grills so that will be covered. I'm thinking the ones who want to camp the night before (I need a head count) will show up Friday evening for a campfire and grilling night. I will probably get a close hotel room. Saturday morning we can start the shuttle process. This could get interesting because the Boiling Springs campground on the Gasconade is within a half mile of where the Big Piney comes in. Floaters or Boaters could choose which river they wanted to float. We could either pack up and leave after the float or camp out again that night, your choice. So give me a final head count within the next couple of days so I can book Boiling Springs.
  4. Well Drew I'm the one who suggested this so I guess I can be. I'm pick a date tomorrow
  5. I will cover your gas, and Im probably going to be the designated shuttle service
  6. We don't need you to attend, we need you to shuttle the canoes and kayaks
  7. I was trying to make sure Al could go, that's why I picked that date. Why don't we all choose a date that will work for them.
  8. Hey Drew, http://ebm.basspronews.com/c/tag/hBN76hfASgjEJB8bmDLNsf2KM.ASgjEJ3H/doc.html?t_params=EMAIL%3Dtvent%2540att.net&om_rid=Nsf2KM&om_mid=_BN76hfB8bmDLP1
  9. It's starting to look like Jun 25-26th for me
  10. Geez, away from this thread for 24 hours and it has gone to the wolves! Anyway, vote now if you would prefer the Gasconade or the Big Piney that Al suggested. Also need a head count
  11. You crack me up!!
  12. Maybe we can go in early July, never done an evening float but there's always a first. I took a guy from Stockton, MO who is kind of famous for tying his rabbit hair jigs, on a float on the Gasconade once in my 12 ft Pelican boat. It got up to about 90 degrees that day and was pretty humid. About 2pm he turned around in the boat to inform me was going to pass out from the heat. 5 seconds later, he is laying in the bottom of my boat completely out. I paddled over to the closest shade and beached the boat. I took the semi frozen gel Packs from my cooler and placed one on his forehead and one under each arm. He seemed to be breathing ok but didn't come back for another 3 minutes or so. He started talking very quietly and finally sat back up. I knew we were approaching a spring in about 200 yards and he took off his shirt and hat and dunked it in the Spring water. He was finally ok, much to my relief. We later found out that the meds he was on caused the problem. Sorry for the indentation, sometimes the iPhone sucks
  13. Maybe we can go Sept if you want
  14. Just throwing this out....... Is anyone interested in having a summer Float n Boat event? I was thinking of the Gasconade River in the SMA section at Boiling Springs campgrounds, or if you have a better idea please post it. We could arrive early am or the night before and camp out, then provide shuttle service for a number of canoes or Kayaks, then arrive for the totals at 6:00pm for a Bar B Que. We could have Al, Chief, and Smalliebigs provide fishing lessons to us lesser talented individuals. I can pick up Eric form St. Charles county and we can drive by to pick up Smallie, then head down. Maybe the 2 Zach's could give us fly fishing lessons and I could attempt to use a fly rod for the second time in my life Maybe Cricket could have a speedo jello wrestling station (just joshin ya) anyway, it sounds like fun to me and we could get to meet each other for the first time. The Gasconade is a pretty big river at this location (where the Big Piney comes in) and should be big enough to have fun for all I'm thinking around mid-late July or early August
  15. I think Trphyfsher does on this forum
  16. Ouch! No way a guy in his twenties could have that much wisdom! (even thirties for that matter) Although his political beliefs are too far left........
  17. Drew, I've never used one of their low profile reels so I can't answer that.
  18. I would shy away from Daiwa, use only Shimano, or to a lesser extent Abu Garcia Ambassadeur which IMO is one of the most underrated work horses of the industry(but I'm old school). They are ultra dependable and rugged. The one draw back is the profile is a little too big. They do hold too much line though for a standard bass rig. I would rather spend the full $150 on the reel and buy a cheap rod. The rods that used to go for $250 you can get now on sale for $79. I personally would never pay more than $125 for a rod anymore....and it better have a lifetime unconditional guarantee.
  19. I don't know what kind of pond health program you've got going on but that fish appears to be starving to death and quite weak.
  20. Great way to start the summer!
  21. Al, Remember Mike Mladenik from the the MSA spring event a couple of years back? He was touting these lures called the Hubbs Chub. They are a prop bait and you can sort of walk the dog. Here is a video
  22. I believe you are right, it's all a matter of personal preference. BTW, I tried your top dollar and you are right, I could never get the faster splashy pace like I wanted...but it did make a different sound and surface disturbance than the others. I would like to give it another chance. Thanks for all who posted here, I learned something!
  23. Just curious which line type and size, and rod action do you use for your Sammys or your favorite walk the dog lure. I found a lot of different opionions when I asked several different people. Thanks in advance for your opinions.
  24. Geez Al, you're too smart! I've always wondered why the bite was off during the falling times, thanks for the insight! I agree with you on the spinnerbaits during those times. Wiggle Warts work well too.
