I admire the sweet tan on that TC fella. Mic, I have the same issue as you, mostly getting hung up around root wads. Think wrench has the right idea in stripping something fast and deep and hope for a reaction strike.

Cabela's ultralight rubber soled wading boots are $60 last I checked and I think an affordable option. I have a pair of felt soled ones that have lasted 3 years and I have had no problems with them. I work them pretty hard too. Maybe not as sexy or cushy as the higher end ones, but I think they are a great value for the money.

Yeah it was 2 years $26 million. Overpaid a bit for a shorter deal, but won't hamstring the Cardinals long term. He has had knee issues the last few years, but was healthy last year. He shouldn't play everyday, but probably 5 games a week and splitting time with Craig, Berkmann, and Jay should keep them all healthy and productive.

Cards sign Beltran to a two year deal with full no trade clause. He won't replace Albert but a possible 300/20-25/80-90 RBI will be a nice addition to the lineup...and only for two years. Good deal I think.

I understand the argument that rubber boots will not offer the same traction as felt or the expense of buying new boots may frustrate some, but overall the ban is a no brainer IMO and seems like a small price to pay to help keep our streams as healthy as possible.

Thanks KC! She does like fishing and she is getting more experienced. This year she was becoming pretty savvy with a spinning rod chasing bass and a few trout. We mostly fished places close to home for bass, but made a couple trips to Bennett, Montauk, and the Current. She had a great time and really enjoyed it. I am sure there will more trips as she gains experience. I showed her the postings on the boundary waters up north so that might be one to work up too for her. If not fishing she is content to float and read her kindle. She loves the outdoors so that bodes well.

Thanks for the congrats guys! Kids will certainly be in the not too distant future and I am sure my free time will wain substantially. Hopefully my future kids will take an interest and I can take them with me when they get old enough. Either way I am looking forward to being a dad someday even if that means less fishing.

So last Saturday night I popped the question to my girlfriend and she said yes! We are both excited and planning a fall wedding. She is a great girl and I am very lucky. As a nice bonus she is very supportive of my fishing habit and she was so excited she decided to show me my Christmas present early. Turns out it is a custom built fly tying table and a rotary vice and some new material to work with. Nicely done babe!

With most of the trout water in Missouri close the same temperature all year around I just wear a pair of sweatpants under my waders (breathables) and have always been comfortable. I layer up with a sweatshirt and then water proof wading jacket, hat, and gloves (2-3 pair of jerseys gloves work the best for me). As Laker stated a change of clothes is import in you case you take a dip. Often I am warmer in the water that out of the water.

Just speculation, but I think Taney may be a bit more angler friendly to access at night and that makes anglers feel a bit safer. There may not be much help on the Current at night if you are wading and get in trouble. To get to some of the best spots may require a decent hike and that makes some uneasy. I would think floaters that camp out overnight would fish it a bit, but probably don't stray that far away from home base. And I don't mean that the Current is some super rugged remote place with poor access, it is not, but once you get away from the access at night it probably is more "rugged" and "desolate" (not the best word, but I can't think of anything else) than Taney. And the browns, on average, are probably bigger and more accessable at Taney. All speculation, but that is my guess.

The Rams need a new coaching staff, a new front office, better lineman to protect Bradford, and recievers he can throw the ball too. It is kinda painful to watch them play right now. Maybe the Rams should see if Texas will let them join the Big 12. Fortunately, the Blues look great and lot's of good college basketball teams to watch in the area in Mizzou, SLUH, KU, and Illinois.

Another option is the Country (maybe countryside) Inn in Licking right at the junction of 63 about 15 minutes from Montauk. Rooms are $50 a night and they are clean and usually have plenty available. I think the motel in the park runs about $70 a night.

Sorry for the confusion Mic I meant fishing back upstream after I originally fished my way down. I too went to the right at Lane Spring recreation area. I haven't tried fishing to the left of that point (upstream) yet, but that may be the ticket in the cold weather. Most of my fishing has taken place in the first mile below Lane. I too am looking forward to figuring it out a little more.

I think I saw the same deer you saw at Mill creek. From your description it was in the same area and same situation. Very large deer indeed! As far as the Little Piney I have had good luck the few times I fished it this year, but I never once saw a fish. It seemed when I fished it they were not in the deep holes, but rather places with some current. From what I have read they can migrate a bit on that stream, but hard to say. Most of my fish came nypmhing and the fish were on the bottom. I did have luck with small dries at times as well. Like Mill they can be spooky and I did much better fishing upstream than down.

interesting to hear Albert's wife's comments today that the Cardinals only offered 5 years and 130 million. Not sure If I entirely believe that and while 26 million a year is a ton of money 5 years would not get it done. Oh well glad they got Furcal back, but still work to be done. I don't disagree with this theory if you apply it to the everyday working class, but there is a difference between making what most of us make and being offered a raise and an elite baseball player making 220 million vs. 250 million. We're talking health care and a raise that would substantially help our families pay the bills and support our kids. Albert has none of those problems. Big difference between the two IMO. Personally, I think the Cardinals will be fine. Albert was good, but he didn't win alone. There are a lot of quality pieces and certainly some holes to fill. Albert fits with an American league team that can hide him at DH his last 3 or 4 years when he is terrible. There is no way the Cardinals could have done that and still been competitive and they new it. It sucks that he left and I hate to see him go, but his next 10 years won't be nearly as good as his first 11 with the Cardinals. The Angels payed for past performance. I hope when Albert returns to St. Louis in the next few years (during interleague play)the fans don't give him a standing ovation and I hope they don't boo either. Just act like it is no big deal and you move on. That is what quality, winning, and confident organizations do. For athletes that love the spotlight and feed of love and hate indifference from a fan base and organization would send a strong statement. Would be cool if Carpenter plunked him though!
