  1. Those are MFC Jurassic eyes on the minnow, 3d eyes on the purple and the white poppers and home made "Casey Smartt" style puff paint eyes on the frog. Yall should try this technique, it is pretty genius.
  2. Impressive sir.
  3. If they do fix this reel, I may just sell it and buy something else. The thing is super smooth when it is working, I have to admit that.
  4. Thanks Mitch.
  5. Haven't gotten alot of fishing in lately... so I tie and tie. Having a lot of fun with the balsa poppers.
  6. Wow, that might be the best one stlfisher. I think yall heard mine in my "Lost Flyrod" thread... I also had my dad launch me out off the ramp with no plug when I was really little. As he parked the truck, I yelled "I'm sinking!!" in my little kid voice and my dad didn't believe me... I was, in fact, sinking. Almost lost that jonboat before he could pull it out.
  7. I am going to mail this one back to Shimano because I wrote some truth on their Facebook wall and they told me to send it in. I will not be buying another one and this one was a gift- I always research my fishing purchases (maybe obsessively). The little mitchell on that rod now is doing great. No reason to get a new one. What is the point in all the bearings and fancy junk if the reel cannot stand up to normal use? Fishing equipment should not be delicate.
  8. Well that sounds good- Im in little rock now and were getting a new BP soon. I already bought a $30 Mitchell that is working just fine so no hurry I guess.
  9. Bummer. I've sent several emails to them and they are not very helpful. They'll let me sent it in to be evaluated but might charge me $25 dollars plus shipping plus the shipping to get it there. That's at least $40. Stupid- I have wal-mart spinning reels that have lasted many years and this one lasted maybe one- and I hardly used it. It'll make a fine paperweight I suppose.
  10. Anyone had trouble with one of these reels freezing and grinding? I've only had the thing for a year or two with minimal use and it randomly started seizing up and grinding really bad. I changed out the grease and oiled some parts and it helped for a little while but the grinding is back. Any ideas?

Rabbit streamers like that are awesome for smallmouth too. When I worked out west we used stuff like that on the gunnison with great success.
  12. There is one- its 7$. Bought one the other day.
  13. Thanks Phil- just keep an eye out. I really appreciate it. If anyone wants to buy a Redington CPX 6wt I think I'll sell it to buy a new reel in case this one is donezo.
  14. Bump. Just a reminder if you are out on Taney at any point- This rod was lost upstream of the big bunch of power lines above Fall Creek, directly under the single power line which is just downstream from a big huge house with white rock/riprap. It was on the channel side right by the tree sticking out there that is kind of cut off and looks fairly green. The reel is bright silver colored and the reel seat is glossy green so it should stick out. Just please keep an eye open for it- I feel like I lost a child or something. Thanks. Looks like this:
  15. I dig it.
  16. Agreed.
  17. I am in no big hurry myself so my feeling is wait on the full ten.
  18. I will tie anyone that finds it a dozen of whatever fly he fancies. I might also purchase him a large unit of the adult beverage of his (or her) choice or something like that to show my appreciation. I built that rod with a lot of love and I'd really be pumped to get it back.
  19. have you gotten mine yet?
  20. I almost hate to admit this... Anyway. Got knocked out of the boat by a sneaky tree limb. Lost my cell phone and my custom TFO BVK all in one move. Lucky I was unhurt. Thank God for that. Anyway. If anyone sees a BVK with a silver Sage 4200 in the water... It was once mine. Lost it up by that bluff under the shoals. Ps we did not hurt your boat Phil. Thanks and be careful out there.
  21. Mine are in the mail today- sorry for the delay guys.
  22. Sink tips suck to cast. They take some getting used to. Full sinks are much easier in my opinion, but harder to deal with because they sink around your feet. The spinning is probably not line related- probably a ganked up fly. Sinking line is the way to go with streamers- in most water you will straight catch more fish.
  23. Mine are done, I shall ship them soon. The Home Invader
  24. 5 down- need more hooks. They look pretty decent... surprisingly decent in fact. Might need an 8 weight to cast these fatties though.
  25. I'm thinking a modified "Home Invader." I think I'll use craft fur instead of fox- I've hooked a few good browns on this pattern. Are size 2's good?
