  1. That's a lot bigger than any of the bass I caught today. However, I did catch a 10 lb carp! Not what I was wanting, but it really pulled the string.
  2. That is a great idea. I will do my best to be there.
  3. I don't believe I've caught any meanmouth. I might have and just didn't know any better.
  4. I've seen some shad. Really small. Maybe a 1/2 to an inch long.
  5. Put in at Orleans Trail about 8:00 am and fished until 5:30. Caught 34 fish total but only 4 keeper bass. Biggest was 16 inches. Caught everything on the Ned except one 13 incher on a Zara Spook. Water temp was 78 to 79 degrees. Best areas seemed to be points but there was really no good pattern. I believe on Stockton in the summertime that most of the bass are out in open water cruising around looking for shad.
  6. I typically fish on Stockton. I first used the ned rig on my last 4 fishing trips. On May 19th, we caught 80 bass with 14 being keepers. The biggest was an 18 inch smallmouth. We went out on Memorial Day and caught 44 with 4 being keepers. On May 29th, we caught 53 with 8 being keepers. I then went put by myself on June 6 and caught 25 with 3 being keepers but I did lose a 4 to 5 pounder when it jumped and spit the hook. I'm not saying that the ned rig is the greatest thing since sliced bread, but I have been very pleased with the results I have encountered.
  7. Somebody caught quite a few cats on Saturday. They threw away the carcasses and their leftover bait at the boat ramp. I bet it stinks to high heaven by now.
  8. Put in at 1:30 pm at the ramp out on the main lake past Orleans Trail and fished from the dam to State Park. Caught 25 fish total but some may say I only caught 15 because 5 were drum. You get penalized for catching drum. lol I did have 3 keeper bass and lost a 4 to 5 lber when it jumped and spit the bait back at me. Water temp was 78 to 80 degrees. Caught my fish mainly on main lake and secondary points. 6 to 18 feet of water. More largemouth than smallmouth this trip. Caught everything on a 1/16th ounce Ned in green pumpkin. As was stated in another post, it was downright hot out there until about 6:00 pm.
  9. I went saying I was going to try a variety of lures and techniques. I threw a jig & craw for a little bit but had such good luck on the Ned that I couldn't put it down.
  10. Got on the water around 11:00 am and fished until 6:30 pm. Started close to the dam and caught some largemouth on main lake points in 8 to 15 feet of water. Water clarity was at least 12 feet. Moved down the lake toward State Park and went back in one of the larger coves. Caught both smallmouth and largemouth in that 5 to 15 foot range on secondary points. Took a break about 2 and went to the State Park marina and ate lunch while a storm blew through. Went back out and targeted points and continued to catch bass. Also caught a 15 inch walleye, a white bass and a drum. Everything came on the Ned rig in either green pumpkin or peanut butter & jelly. Water temps were 73.
  11. Last Tuesday spoiled me. Big time.
  12. Got on the water around noon and fished until 6:30. Took my son and one of his friends. Either the fish have moved deeper since last Tuesday, or they just weren't as hungry. Ended up catching 43 bass on the ned in green pumpkin. My son caught a 13 inch crappie also on the ned. Only 4 keeper bass and they were all 15 to 16 inchers. Water temp was 69. We fished from Orleans Trail to the split of the Big and Little Sac. The majority of the bass were smallmouths.
  13. Never tried. I didn't see any surface activity.
  14. Had no problem with moss. One of the coves we went into had a lot of it floating on the surface.
  15. Got on the water at noon and fished until 8:00 pm. Put in at Orleans Trail and headed across the lake to the east side. We stayed on the east side from there to where Price Branch starts. We fished a total of 5 areas and caught fish at every one. We ended up with 75 to 80 bass total with 14 being keepers. Caught most of them on the Ned rig but also caught quite a few on a jig & craw in Missouri craw with a paca chunk in Alabama craw. The Ned rig was a 1/16 ounce with a green pumpkin Zero. Water temps were 68 to 69 degrees. Caught all of them fairly shallow in 3 to 12 feet of water. One of the best days I've ever had on Stockton. Most of them were smallmouths. We had an 18 inch smallmouth, three 17 inch smallmouths, and several 15 1/2 to 16 inch smallmouths.
  16. Put in a Long Shoals about 9:30 a.m. on April 30th. Fished until 4:00 p.m. Brought home 16 keeper crappie. It was really hit & miss. They weren't on the bank. Out away in 4 to 8 feet of water. Mostly males. 4 females in the 16. Still had eggs. Water was very clear and the temps were 63 to 64 degrees. Went back the next day and got on the water around noon. Fished till 5:30. Came home with 21 crappie and a 21 inch walleye. Water had warmed to 65 to 67 degrees. Still no fish on the banks. Only 2 females in the bunch. Eggs were pretty bloody and loose. Most everything came on a 1/16th ounce white grub.
  17. Out in front of the dam the bottom comes up to about 10. Extends for quite a ways parallel to the dam.
  18. I was on the Osage around the 60 mm. Tough there too. I only had 6 keepers fishing by myself. Even the boats fishing the spider rigs were having a tough time. Near as I could tell, the fish are scattered. Anywere from 6 tp 20 feet deep.
  19. Mine is 18.5
  20. I've heard reports that Lake of the Ozarks is low. Anybody know if you can launch at Brown Bend?
  21. I was there Monday. Pretty tough bite and I agree that the fish were fairly shallow. I think the bite is tough because the fish have too many easy meals. The shad kill seems to be pretty prevalent which makes it easy for them to find something to eat.
  22. Does anybody know if ice is a problem at PB #2 ramp there in Osage Beach?
  23. Put in at Orleans Trail and headed up the Big Sac and then up into Sons Creek. Worked a bank on the east side across from Googer Creek. Caught 1 on my 8th cast. Then I went a long time before the next. Went pretty far back in Googer and worked a channel bank but nothing. I then went pretty far up Sons Creek. Worked a bank on the east side close to a big cut. Caught 5 bass there. Moved to the west side with timber and caught 12 bass and one walleye. Moved to a bank across from the Ruark Bluff swimming beach on the north side and caught 2 walleye and 2 bass. Headed back toward Orleans Trail and hit a couple of banks but nothing. Ended up in Orleans Trail cove and worked the south side by the buoy line and caught 2 more to end the day. I tried a wart and a jig & craw throughout the day, but nothing. Everything came on a Megabass 110. The fish were fairly shallow. 5 to 12 feet I would imagine. Water temps were 46 to 48.
  24. Just got back from a day of fishing on Stockton, December 12. Not sure what the conditions will be like when you are here, but today the water temps were 46 to 48. I was fishing for bass and did pretty good. 24 but they were all short except 2 that just measured over 15 inches. I also caught 3 walleye. Everything came on a Megabass 110. Worked fairly steep banks where I was a cast away from the bank and the boat would be sitting in 16 to 22 feet of water. Lots of crappie fisherman were out today. Looked like they were working around schools of shad out in the main lake around Ruark Bluff. As was said earlier, Stockton can get really rough with a little wind. Down right dangerous with a lot of wind. I hope the days you are here the weather cooperates.
