  1. We were on Stockton and managed 8 for a very long day (8 am to 5 pm). It was very tough. Caught them on jigs, or at least a stand-up bare jighead with a green pumpkin crawdad.
  2. Also slow for us. We caught 8 but 5 were keepers (bass). Everything caught on a jig. Tried a jerkbait but not a bite.
  3. 41 to 42 in the State Park to Orleans Trail area.
  4. Did it get as windy as they said it would? The forecast was gust up to 28 mph. Up here in KC it didn't seem that bad even though our forecast was the same.
  5. Walcrabass: I tried again but the action failed. Must not be you or me, but something with Ozark Anglers. Brad

  7. Wow! Thanks for all of the good info. I'm glad I brought the subject up. How often do you re-apply scent?
  8. I assume it is just me and what I'm cofident with, but I've gotten to the point where I say color on Stockton doesn't matter as long as it's green pumpkin. I have a lot of watermelon colored plastics, but I sure don't seem to get many bites on that color. Green pumpkin really does well for me. I'd be curious to here from others if watermelon has been successful.
  9. The wind was out of the northwest. I've never had any luck with the wind from that direction on that lake. Seems like the times I've been out and the wind switched to the north or northwest, the fish would stop biting. Anybody else experience that on Stockton?
  10. I went out today (Sunday) in the dam area. Never caught a one on a jerkbait. Tried it pretty hard too. What I did catch was on a hula grub with a 1/4 oz. Chompers jig head. Caught one that went 20 inches but was pretty skinny. Water temps were 42 to 43 degrees.
  11. I concur that now is the time to be throwing a jerk bait. From now until mid-March. After that, other patterns are more productive. I'm partial to Megabass 110's. They are expensive, but I've had good luck with them. Pro Blue or KBG are my favorite. Bass Pro makes a look alike and I have tried them, but I found that they don't have near the action as the Megabass.
  12. Got on the water shortly after 8:00 am and fished until 2 pm. Fished around the dam area. Main lake points that had steeper banks produced better than the flat banks. Most of the fish came in 2 to 5 feet of water. Caught around 25 with 10 being keepers. Caught more smallmouth than blacks. Caught one on a white spinnerbait, one on a Bandit 100 shad colored, and everything else came on a Spot Remover with a Yum Dinger in Green Pumpkin. My best day ever as far as keepers go. Biggest was probably around 19 inches long. Nothing huge, but a lot of fun. Water temp was 57 to 58 degrees.
  13. My opinion is that it is a public lake. I might be more concious of keeping my distance, and definitely not cutting somebody off, but just because they are the "big boys" doesn't mean they own the lake.
  14. I went out Thursday afternoon and caught a few on a shakey head rigged with a green pumpkin senko. Caught 3 keepers on a white spinner bait where the wind was blowing. After the wind switched (around 3:30) the bite died. I was fishing around the dam.
  15. Fished both afternoons. Mainly around the dam area. Saturday was one of the best days I've ever had on Stockton. My son, his good friend and I caught 50 bass. Largemouth, smallmouth, and kentuckies. 4 keepers but it should have been 5. My son had a solid 3.5 lber to the boat. Caught them on spinnerbaits, shallow crankbaits, split shot rigs, and spot removers, On Sunday it was just me and my son. It was tougher fishing. Cloud cover wasn't as thick so maybe the lighter conditions moved them out of the backs of the coves. Still ended up with about 35 Sunday and 3 were keepers. Both days we caught them shallow. 2 to 6 feet of water. My son's friend had never fished from a boat and he had a hard time knowing when or how to set the hook. We kept telling him to "cross their eyes!". He was starting to get the hang of it by the end of the day. I teased him at one point saying " you don't want to hurt the fishy, just tickle them".
  16. I went out Thursday afternoon, July 19th. Got on the water around 4:00 p.m. and fished until 9:30 p.m. I caught 14 fish, all shorts. 2 were smallies and the rest largemouth and spots. Most of them were caught on main lake points on a blue fleck power worm. Caught a 14 1/2 smallie on a zara spook about sundown in about a foot of water. The heat was unbearable. I went through 84 ounces of gatorade. I was shocked at how hot it was. Early in the spring when the air temp warms up and you are cruising across the lake and you will hit pockets of cold air from the water. Well today you hit pockets that felt like a blast furnace. And that was after the sun went down!
  17. Put in by the dam and fished mainly from the 215 bridge north toward the dam. We started at 8 a.m. and fished until 3 p.m. Caught around 30 total and 4 of them were keepers. One of the keepers was a nice 16 inch smallmouth. Most everything came on a carolina rigged llzard in green pumpkin. Caught a couple on topwater early right after we started but then the sun came out and we went deeper. Main lake and seconary points with rock on them produced the best.
  18. Went out Friday afternoon in the Long Shoal area. Caught my limit in about 3 hours. Caught them all on a 1/16 oz. white grub. They were all pretty shallow. Hit one spot that produced a lot of fish right off of a beaver home. Half of the crappie were females and the eggs were still pretty firm. Caught a bunch of 12 to 14 1/2 inch bass on my crappie jig. Caught maybe 10 to 15 that would all go between 5 and 6. Inches that is! Saw at least one bass on a bed.
  19. I fished Wednesday afternoon around the Long Shoals area. We found some in the flooded buckbrush. Some bushes held fish, most didn't. You just had to keep moving. Mostly black males. Others we caught a little off the bank in 5 to 7 foot. We saw 67 to 70 degree water.
  20. Fished Monday afternoon. Started in the Osage arm not far from the dam in some of the big cuts on the west side. Water temps were 64 to 67 and the water was fairly murky. We caught 6 in that area of the lake. With the water rising it seemed like the crappie were out in 4 to 8 feet of water. Never found them bunched up. You would catch one here or there. Moved from there to the Grand arm close to Long Shoals. Water temps were about the same but the clarity was much better. Probably 2 to 3 feet. Caught 5 more in that area but a little deeper. We also caught a bunch of small bass and 1 small walleye on our crappie jigs.
  21. Only 2. And both of them were 15 3/4.
  22. Fished the Big Tebo. Caught around 25 bass mostly on a spinner bait. Caught a couple on a jig & craw, and a couple on a Bandit 100. Most of them were tight to the bank. The better banks were fairly steep and the first half of the creek arms. Water temps were 53 to 57 degrees. Water clarity was fairly clear, probably a foot and a half to 2 foot. The clearer the water, the colder the temp.
  23. I wasn't around CC, but today (Saturday)down by the dam it was 49 to 50.
  24. I was out last Thursday before the rain and the water temp in the dam area was 44 to 45 degrees. Fished a jerkbait quite a bit but never caught any walleye. I figure they are still pretty deep because there wasn't much wind. Should be moving up though in the next couple of weeks.
  25. I also fished on Thursday around the dam area. I struggled with the bass. Only caught 4 and missed probably 4 others. 2 were keepers. Caught 3 of them on an Eakins PB&J with a green pumpkin paca chunk. Caught 3 in the same area. With me it comes down to confidence. Where I caught the 3 I had confidence in where I was fishing. After that I was just hoping. Tried a lot of different spots. Ended up going to a brush pile in about 30 feet of water and catching about 17 crappie. Brought home 11 and they were all 10 1/2 to 11 3/4 inches long. ater temps were in the 44 degree range.
