Members outdoorman Posted March 5, 2008 Members Posted March 5, 2008 lol. casting is all in the timing
fly2fish Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 Also when you get half way comfortable with casting in daytime, try night fishing (or wherever you practice), you have to go almost entirely by the feel of the rod. This will help your casting tremendously anytime day or night. If you never wade fished at night don't do it alone or be REAL familiar with the area you are going to wade. Good luck with your initial investment, it only gets more addictive.
zander Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 Casting at night is definately a great way to practice just like was said because you give your body a feel what is happening with the line. I fished in the dark for the first time in quite a while last week and when the sun went down so did the quality of my casts because I was out of practice and fishing too visually. Good luck you are going to love it.
Terry Beeson Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 Jim, Welcome to the fly fishing world and your new addiction. I think Michael has a "direct deposit" system set up to have your paycheck sent directly to BCO to pay for all your new toys you're going to want... Actually, if you can get Randy or Michael to give you a casting lesson or two, you'll be way ahead. And as the saying goes... there are three keys... practice, practice, and practice...
