Streamer Rod

I'm looking for info on a good streamer rod. Something between my somewhat light 5 wt. and my 8 wt. It will be used primarily for throwing streamers and possibly for terrestrials on windy days out west. I'm looking for something in a stiff 6/moderate 7 wt. Let me know which rods you like for this application. Also, for those of you with inflatable pontoon boats, do any of you use a longer, say 10' rod to help get the line off the water. Just wondered if you thought it was really worth it to get a rod with a limited application. Thanks for the info.

10 foot Sage XP 4 piece 7weight / possibly a 8wt if you are dealing with much bigger fish

I have cast them.. just don't own one. But someday I will own more than one. Soon.

I'll throw a TFO 7wt TiCRx in the picture. You said stiff, the XP, TiCRx, and the Loomis Max Line Speed are in the top five of the fastest production rods being made right now, and they are all crazy-fun to cast too!

Dorber Group's new Ultra-Weave is probably the lightest blank on the market today and the new weave wrap makes them almost unbreakable. They ran over one with a van and it didn't break. From the 6 weight up I asked them to stiffen them. They cast so well that they do not throw a sine wave. I am building a new 9 foot, 9 weight, Ultra-Weave blank with oversized T1 guides, 18 inch Tennesse Sensor handle without a reel seat for the Sowbug Round Up. It should cast in the 120-130 foot range.

Dorber is a rod maker in Flippin Ark. They have been making rods for years. I built a rod on one of their blanks (not the new one) and absolutely love the action. You can check them out at

Thanks guys. I checked out their site. Looks interesting. I've been considering a new rod, may have to look into these. BTW, when is the sowbug this year? I've always wanted to make it but work always seems to interfere. Maybe this year?

I was at Dorber on Friday and checked out the weaves. They are really beautiful! I didn't get a chance to wave one, but they really look nice.
