Fished crane about an hour last night with a customer, we started down below the dairy farm, fished a red san juan worm, only brought one to hand, about an 8 incher, we had 3 more on, had to add a lot of weight to get the juan down. I think we had 3 BB shot on when we got done.

We used 5X fluorocarbon tippet.

The creek is in fine shape, it has stayed higher longer than usual, I hope that means there is a lot of excess water in old mother earth right now, maybe the flow will remain good for the next few months or maybe longer.

Hey Timsfly,

do you ever use a sinking tip on Crane to get down during high water? I only have floating line but have been considering getting a sinking tip backup line for higher water conditions and use on the Current river in some holes that I can't work well with my floating line.

Not many places where I think a sink tip would do much good, the holes are small and a floating line, is fine for the way I fish. There is a hole here and there that a sink tip might do some good. I fished crane a few hours this afternoon, the water is still up and running good, I fished my fly rod and my spinning rod, I like the spinning rod when the water is up like it is right now. I fished small spoons, and hildebrandt spinners today, caught a couple on the spinners had a few more hit, and did pretty well on a glo-ball on a jig head.

All fish were small today, nothing over 10".

Perhaps I just need to add a little weight and try that to get down sometimes. It looks like you're posting from Roaring, are you at the lodge down there? I usually make it down there a couple of times a year with friends and my father-in-law.

I have a shop at Roaring River, but I live close to crane, I fish it a few times a month.
