Members Slabhunter Posted March 12, 2008 Members Posted March 12, 2008 Fished at the park yester for about 3 hours. Caught 7. Biggest about 55Ibs. Sows are starting to come up. I lost at least 10 hooks. So i would recomend throwing a 3oz sinker, until the water raises up again. Im gonna hit it again this weekend after the rain.
Members smartfish73 Posted March 13, 2008 Members Posted March 13, 2008 how many people were there and what time did you fish? do you think it will be busy this sunday?
Members Slabhunter Posted March 13, 2008 Author Members Posted March 13, 2008 There were 4 on the east side and probably 15 on the westside. Sunday im sure there will be at least 30 on each side. Try fishing just above the dam is under water but you can still kinda see where its at.
Members smartfish73 Posted March 13, 2008 Members Posted March 13, 2008 are they always up that far this early or are they just early this year. how is the water? have ou heard of any white bass being caught
Members Slabhunter Posted March 13, 2008 Author Members Posted March 13, 2008 The water was really high last weekend. It was barely out of the banks last friday. Tuesday it was about two feet inside of the bank. The big ones are slowly making their way up that far. I've caught 4 sows in the past week and numers males. I've seen boats come from down stream with nice stringers of whites one guys said they are catching most of them between the park and conners bridge. That doesn't really narrow it down though. Most of the guys that fish over there will only tell you they caught them in the water. If we get this rain like we are supposed to I would expect alot more sows will be caught this weekend. But we need at least an inch up to make the river just right.
Members smartfish73 Posted March 13, 2008 Members Posted March 13, 2008 thanks for your help i think i will be going down this sunday if i can get a boat i will probably troll around the bridges but if i don't i will probably drive to conners bridge if i can remember the way
Members Slabhunter Posted March 13, 2008 Author Members Posted March 13, 2008 which way are you coming from and maybe i can explain how to get there.

Members KansasBoy13 Posted March 13, 2008 Members Posted March 13, 2008 Doesnt snagging season open Saturday in Kansas? Was thinking of making a trip for either white bass or spoonbill but looks like it'll be spoonbill, think they've made up to Chetopa yet?
Members Slabhunter Posted March 13, 2008 Author Members Posted March 13, 2008 Not sure if they have made it up that far yet. I was wondering the same thing myself. If a non-resident license wasn't so expensive i would go up there this saturday but with gas plus 42.50 for a license it would cost me over a 100. Im sure that sandbass are there. If you go up there gimmie a report
