Seth Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 Let's use this post for all of our snagging reports and plans for 2008. Where's is everybody planning on starting this weekend? I'm going to head down to the James River on Tablerock tomorrow after work and start ripping at midnight. I just hope the weather holds out and treats us nicely.
Members Dirt Posted March 13, 2008 Members Posted March 13, 2008 Hey Seth, We will be at McCords Bend tomorrow afternoon. Coyote said that they are there, but probally just small males. I posted on the Table Rock page and asked for water temp and someone said they were going today and would let me know what it is. hope to run into ya. Dirt
Seth Posted March 13, 2008 Author Posted March 13, 2008 Sounds good! We will be around Ashercane Bottoms tomorrow night at 12am. Hopefully the warmer temps this week will have warmed the water up a bit and improve the snagging.
Jason Essary Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 Sorry havent posted lately been fishing to much.....went to ashers last night, caught 37 whites in 1 hour and 45 min with my boy. had a blast. anyways, temps were pushing 53. saw some nice bills breaking at dark. been graphing for them most evenings this week. some are as high as McCord bend and ashers is full by what i saw. Monday evening i saw a few round point 15 but not as many as i expected. Depending on the rain, were starting at mccord and working down, getting on water bout 7 in morning or earlier. Ill be in a 16' bass tracker with 60 horse evinrude (sp). Think we might fish for whites till bout 9 then start snagging. B me and boy and one other guy in my boat. Got three other boats goin that i know of. by the way, the ramp at ashers is going to be PAAAAAAAAAAAAccccccccccckkkkkkkked. Last night all parking was gone by 500 and still had trucks coming in... Seth Posted March 14, 2008 Author Posted March 14, 2008 Glad to hear that Coyote. Small males or big sows I'm ready to yank in some spooners. Good luck everybody. I should be back Saturday evening so I'll post up on how well we did. Coyote, how do you fish for the whites on the James? I've seen some very impressive stringers of whites boated down there, but have never took time away from snagging to try catching any. I plan on trying for them this year though because the few times I did get into them, it was a blast!
Jason Essary Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 seth, look for the whites right now round walnut springs boat ramp in ashers cane bottom. Seth Posted March 14, 2008 Author Posted March 14, 2008 Thanks. That's the area we will be focusing on when snagging so I might throw in a spinning outfit just incase I snag my limit early and try for some whites.
Seth Posted March 16, 2008 Author Posted March 16, 2008 March 15 - James River arm of Tablerock 12am - 6am Four of us were in the boat. We boated seven fish. It took a while but we found a school of them and landed all seven fish between 2-3am. All the boats were up around the Ashercane Bottoms area and we seen several boats pull in fish. Six of the fish were males weighing 30-40 lbs and the biggest of the night was a sow that weighed 47 lbs. Here's a few pictures of the fish.
Jason Essary Posted March 16, 2008 Posted March 16, 2008 finally got my internet back. we fished from 10 am sat till 2 pm. never hooked a fish. started above ashers and went all the way to point seven. saw a few caught, maybe 5. and saw a few on the boats. seemed real slow but seems u found a nice pile. how deep were they. we stayed on the bottom most of the time. No whites either. guess the temp change gave them lockjaw but theyll be back Essary Construction - Honest work for honest price Custom Construction and Remodeling Call for free quotes (417)338-6418 http://essarycustomhomes.com/
