I have to drive over that way to work in huntsville tomorrow. I will check it out and let you know what's going on. I saw that the lake level was over 1,130. I can't remember it getting that high, usually they open the gates once it passes 1,128. I hope Bull Shoals can hold all the water from beaver and the rock for a little bit. Heard from a friend that they have water in their river house at Buffalo City. They probably have to wait for that to calm down before they can open up Bull Shoals.

Beaver was definitely over flood gate level for some time. The water was up in county roads and private property way above the take line. The parking lot for the ramp at Goshen is torn up pretty good.

Gates were shut at 7am. AGFC is going out tonight to corral the renegade stripers that took the plunge.

Making Beaver Lake safe for all the little fish...one striper at a time.

Beaver IS at flood stage and very muddy. I figure that it will put the crappie spawn off til middle end of april

S's D-

I'm trying to learn about the crappie & spawn here.... Do they not spawn in muddy/murky water? or do you feel that the water temp. warm up will be affected? With Beaver lake so high there should be lots of flooded timber to draw them up back into those coves. I couldn't get within 300-400' of the actual lake on the road that I normally take as the lake water was backed up in the timber and over a low area of the road back there. Water temp...off the road, in the trees...was ~53°

http://www.swl-wc.usace.army.mil/WCDS/plots/WEB/bea.htm Apparently they are generating 'full steam' 'round the clock at beaver, but I've read that they've closed the flood gates...for now at least. Lake level shows at ~ 1129.5 on the site listed. Flood pool there shows at 1130, so it'd sure be close yet.

If they bit all the time they'd call it catching....instead of fishing...

All I have to say is thank the good lord. The White, especially around Goshen, needed a good flushing. Eight years ago, that was some of my favorite bass water in the state. Now it's a toilet. Hopefully this high water will run some of the trashers off for a while and draw some new fish up from the lake. I hope it looks like a lake of its own for a while like it did five or so years ago.

Petpi,

I expect the spawn to be on mid to last of april. The temp will deffinatly affect the spawn, but Beaver is a very clear lake normally and i think the muddy water will hold them off for awhile. the reason the corps stopped generating is because the lower lakes wont be able to handle the water! Went to the dam today and all I can say is WOW. The good news is that the water was crystal clear for now. Did not see one boat on the lake. Went the Dam Store and they said it has been very slow. The only interesting thing is like they said in a previous report some stripers may have went below the dam. They sure hurt the trout, but they grow big eating all thoes trout and that is how the the state record came to happen if I am not mistaken. The Dam site boat ramp was not flagged off and you possibly could have launched a boat, but the dock is unusable.
