Micheal Kyle Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 Four Nights in a row and this was the slowest of them all. I was really surprised that there were not more people down last night with all the action that has been going on. But maybe it is packed during the day, I think thats when the sane person fishes. Not 100% sure on that comment though. Any way we put in at the 160 bridge and boated up to the Tea Tables and right off the bat first 2 cast 17 and an 18 inch White. And that was it for a little while Duane and Jeremy had a few little males in that time but nothing of real size. Decided to start drifting down and thats when we started getting back into them we were fishing a 7 1/2 foot sinking leader that had a sink rate of 5.6 inches/second with a grey and white clouser size 6. We were just swinging it and letting it sit right on the bottom and not moving it very much. The water has cleared up a lot, a lot debris still on the top floating down and there was starting to get a pretty good river flow back last night which made it nice for drifting and anchoring. The fish are really holding tight to the bottom and next to all of the submerged vegitation. Do not be afraid of getting up in the all weeds. but just as long as you are touching bottom as it works down stream no bottom touching no fish. I have caught a lot of White bass in my short life but I did have a first last night my very first 20" White, It was just a litltle over 20" and I weighed it on my IGFA certified Boga Grip and it weighed just over 5 pounds. What a fish. There are a lot of white bass up but there eggs are not bloody and out of the fish that I have cleaned this week not very many of them have been females. I think with the weather that is forcast for the up coming week end that it might really get hot next week if we do not get a lot of rain. Oh yea almost forgot the water temp was running last night 55-56 Duane has the pics so I hope he will post them again Good luck to all that go out today. Michael To Know People Is To Know Thier Ways!
Micheal Kyle Posted March 27, 2008 Author Posted March 27, 2008 I have to agree thats the only way we are going to get it back. But like I said I have only had one or two females that we kept all week. To Know People Is To Know Thier Ways!

Project Healing Waters Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 OK, Here's what we've all been waiting for.....Michael in action! As Julius Cesar said, "Vinni, viddi, vicci." No stories of fish, just the fish telling the story. duckydoty Amazing! I caught and released that fish THREE TIMES on Monday! Glad Michael found it, too. Seriously, I'm not a night fisherman...and I know Michael has a thing about hooking outdoor writers he fishes with..., but I'd go with y'all in a heartbeat for the White Bass right now. You'll knocking them out of the park. Being a land-lubber, I've had to work H-A-R-D for the ones I've caught so far this Spring. My personal best is a 4.5 lb White Bass I took out of the Pothole back in 1999. And I thought that one was huge. But I've seen some filleted out carcasses along the banks in the past couple of years that would have gone well over 6 lbs. I'm pretty sure they were Wipers, though. There's just no way a few of the ones I've seen were typical White Bass. I know an 8 lb bass when I see one, and at least one of these was that big. If we get the rain they're forecasting and the next couple of days of cooler weather, it's going to be a whole new ballgame. Don't you just love the adventure! http://www.projecthealingwaters.org
