Members TexomaOkie Posted March 31, 2008 Members Posted March 31, 2008 I have caught stripers at night with rattle traps, and top water baits ( spooks and redfins), but could see how a spinner bait would work. You talk about fishing Texoma, me and a couple buddies will be going down there April 13th do you have any suggestions. I fish the north, or upper end of the lake primarily. Early morining and late evening, we look for sand bass (Texoma slang for white bass) and stripers on windy points chasing shad pushed on to the shallow points by the waves. During the middle of the day, watch for gulls out in the big water. Big Chug Bugs and Rattle Traps work great in either instance. At night, minnows or live shad fished around bridge piers are the best bet. I'm spending the last week of April on Texoma. I'll let you know how it goes.
jay bird Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 Will try Inidian Tuesday night if I can get away. Wily was there any problem running up into Indian creek?
wily Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 No, there was a little bit of trash out in the middle, but not much. courtesy dock at indian creek is about 6 foot under the water, and the water is up to the light pole at the ramp.
Members boogercountybow Posted April 9, 2008 Members Posted April 9, 2008 My son Jake and I went out MOnday and caught 40 the water was somewhat muddy and it took a bit to locate them but when we did it was the motherlode! Here is a pic! Booger catches Brownies and letsem Go!!
hoglaw Posted April 9, 2008 Author Posted April 9, 2008 So you guys went up the creek a ways it appears, or maybe the camera angle is throwing me off. It looked like people were catching fish on Sunday, but I think they're really scattered. I fished for a couple of hours on Sunday evening and never found them. It looked like people were walking a long way for bank space.
Clay Goforth Posted April 10, 2008 Posted April 10, 2008 Went out and fished today. Put in at twin bridges, went up Richland creek and fished for about an hour and a half with very little luck...we only caught 3. Changed and went up the White about 3 - 3 1/2 miles past the really hairy shoal up above the backside of Waterford subdivision. They were hard to locate but once we did, about 10:45 this morning, we hammered them. Caught roughly 60-70 and brought home 25 good slabs to filet. Also caught a 25 inch hybrid...don't know exactly how to figure the weight but I guesstimated it to be around 6lbs. I will post pictures once I get them from my buddy who I was fishing with today. We pulled off the water at about 2:30 so all in all, a pretty good day. Caught the all but the hybrid on either a chartreuse or a black/silver little fishy on a 1/8 oz jig head...The hybrid, well, can't reveal all the secrets... Booger catches Brownies and letsem Go!!
Members fender Posted April 14, 2008 Members Posted April 14, 2008 I am a former resident of Fayetteville and am coming home this weekend with a friend to chase the Whites up the White. A close friend told me boat access at Twin Bridges is possible. Can anyone confirm? Many thanks, Brian
hoglaw Posted April 14, 2008 Author Posted April 14, 2008 Yes, there's an AGFC ramp that was put in a couple of years ago under the White River bridge. The water is high enough for a small ship at the moment.
cpriest Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008 Spent about 2.5 hours up richland this afternoon, below the first set of shoals. caught around 15 whites, with several of them being good sized females. I also broke off two huge fish. one of them i probably wasnt hooked up with real well, but the other i played for about 30 seconds and it snapped my 9lb tippet. I also got 6 spotted & large mouths up there. none of them had any size all about 1lb or less, but it was fun to catch something different. The water has dropped out from the most recent flood, making it somewhat fishable, go out and fish before another rain comes! -Chase
