Fishing Buddy Don House Posted April 5, 2008 Fishing Buddy Posted April 5, 2008 Went back out this afternoon with a group from Branson West ran back up to the DAM drifted from Just below Outlet two to 100 yards past the Boat Ramp. Another really good day on the water, boated well over 25 fish in the 15 - 16 inch range with a few bigger ones including some nice Browns. Everything came on the All White Jig and the Woolie Bugger in White. Shad are still coming through the DAM in large amounts today. This little guy I had on the boat today was just killing them, he out fished all of us 3 to 1 per drift. Phil was right it does matter which side you drift down. You just have to play with it until you start catching fish then repeat. Here are some pictures of todays outing.. Good Fishing Everyone.. Capt. Don Capt. Leonard Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 Nice fish Don... Looks like you had some fun!!! Leonard http://www.taneycomonights.com
Bill Babler Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 Congrats, Capt. Don. Very nice day. I know this is a pain with the fishing on the Rock, but the ammount of chow being pushed into taney is a fantastic boom for our trout. This should really increase the size of the fish we catch throughout the entire year. The last time I believe we had such a bonanza was 2002 and the fishing was fabulas for the entire year into 03. All your fish were just buldging and wanting more. People just think of the shad coming thru, but there are other critters from worms to various terrestials coming thru those gates. This is not hurting Taney one little bit and the fishing is yummy. On yesterdays post, you said you were catching them at Monkey pretty well. If you don't mind what was the hot ticket down there? I have not fished out of the Restricted Zone, except for Roark, and am getting pretty tired of looking at Belks, Department Store, and the muddy trashy banks in Roark. Monkey, might be a good place for folks that want to keep a few for the skillet. Good Luck On another note. Just who or whom is responsible for the clean up of the Roark area? That place is a mess from the construction on the landing and the herds of people fishing the bank, and leaving their sacks, cans and bottles. We might need to get some guys together and have a clean-up day. Someone should be policing that area, but I don't know who. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Fishing Buddy Don House Posted April 5, 2008 Author Fishing Buddy Posted April 5, 2008 Bill we were using the same thing down there also, white jigs on a drift rig, worked really well and was getting our bigger fish.. Also the good old standby down there power bait was getting a bunch to eat as well. Start up at the island and drift your way down to the landing on both sides. Beats the heck out of the crowd! Going back up again today with a group, Leonard from Taneycomo Nights has put me together some new White PMS jigs to play with should be alot of fun if there is not to much traffic!! Yes, I also noticed there was alot of trash around that area, cleaning day would be good, but it won't last, best bet would be to get the conservation guys to put some trash cans around there at least it would be in the cans?? See you up there today Good Fishing Capt. D Capt. ozarksfishin Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 Sounds like you had another great day Don!! Thanks again for turning me on to the white jigs. Babler, I had a guide trip yesterday and we drifted from the island to the marina all day. We would usually catch a few at the island and just before 65 bridge. We were averaging 3-5 fish per drift, bout 30 all together. Be careful, there are a few hang ups just under the train bridge, have your clients reel in before you go under the bridge. Had to fire up the big motor a few times before they spooled my reels!! Again, the white jigs were working well. Good luck, and if either of you have any news from the Rock, let me know. I will be out there most of next week tryin to figure them out for the derby next weekend. OAF Contributor Phillip Stone http://ozarksfishin.com

Fishing Buddy Don House Posted April 9, 2008 Author Fishing Buddy Posted April 9, 2008 Went back up yesterday and did the Dam drifting thing from 1 - 7 pm, fishing still very good even in the afternoon after the rains. 3-4 fish per drift until about 5:30 - 6:00 then it really slowed. All of our fish where in the 14- 16 inch range with only two nice browns this time. Moved back down to Monkey Island and tried our luck drifted a few times still caught a few more fish until we ran out of daylight. White Jig was the major producer in both areas. Get to go fish for Bass today then back over to Taneycomo on Friday if we can, If I can get access to the lake. Report later Good Fishing Everyone Capt. Don Capt.
