Fishrman Posted April 12, 2008 Posted April 12, 2008 Fished today by myself out of H hwy. and sure wish I would have had someone with me, would have made launching and trailering a lot easier, but I got it done anyway. Fished from Little Indian to one of the WolfPens, don't know which one I was in, doesn't matter didn't catch any in there anyway. Did end up catching 7 with 3 keepers, nothing bigger than 3 pounds. Caught everything on a spinnerbait, 1/2 oz. Luck E Strike trickster. What a beating I took when I went to the main lake. Well hope everyone gets a chance to go sometime and hope everyone can catch a few.
S&M Posted April 12, 2008 Posted April 12, 2008 You're a brave person venturing out on the main lake today How big where the white caps?. Guessing by the high 30mph gusts, I'd say at least 2 - 2-1/2 feet ? How do I deal with those who ignore the 50 yard encroachment rule?......I show them just how accurate I am with a crank bait!
Members echoXLT Posted April 12, 2008 Members Posted April 12, 2008 2 to 2 1/2? Man, you guys don't want any part of Kentucky when its rollin'.
Fishrman Posted April 12, 2008 Author Posted April 12, 2008 I would say in places they were bigger than 2 1/2, but not over 3ft. My 19'8" Ranger was just fine though, got a little wet, but no way you couldn't.
Bill Babler Posted April 12, 2008 Posted April 12, 2008 Fished out of Shell Knob, yesterday, on what was scheduled as a full day trip. Cut it in half due to safety factors. Water at the Knob, on the stretch from the bridge to Campbell Point was at least 3 ft. and the water in front of Big Creek was the same. With all the sleepers and floating debris, it was just too dangerious to continue. All most all the guides cut short any full day trips. Spinner baits were the key if you could keep them in the water and out of the trees. I would guess the clients thru no fault of there own, were only making, MAYBE, 1 productive cast in 30 attempts. Did catch a nice 7.5 LM full of eggs. She was released under the same tree she was hiding under. Be careful today, as conditions have not changed abit. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Fishrman Posted April 12, 2008 Author Posted April 12, 2008 Bill, were you still able to catch them shallow?
Bill Babler Posted April 12, 2008 Posted April 12, 2008 There was no them. We only had the one fish, and lost another out of the same bush. Both in about 10 ft. of water. I found nothing on the bank that would bite, however the wind was so bad, you just flat couldn't fish it. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Fishrman Posted April 12, 2008 Author Posted April 12, 2008 Thanks Bill. Good to hear that, all the fish I caught were slow rolling the blade, sat boat in 18-20 feet and caught them in about 10 suspended, some near brush others out of nowhere. Thanks again Bill.
