joeD Posted April 17, 2008 Author Posted April 17, 2008 I agree. When Kohner first started to develop the area, there was no fence underneath 47, and one could still access the river. I was under the impression that the area just underneath the bridge was public too, just like the road. I didn't think a private citizen or corporation could deny access in a public area.?! Money and a loud voice win.
Members B-unit Posted May 1, 2008 Members Posted May 1, 2008 I went to check on the Mineral Fork today after leaving the Huzzah. Parked at Kingston and waded up (or around) to where the broken concrete slab and deep pocket used to be and then back. The water was clear but the flooding has made some pretty noticeable changes. Obviously the water was still pretty high today compared to what I regard as being normal (kind of expected that). Technically I got skunked but I was more or less just sightseeing and roll casting a pencil popper into a spot here and there, y'know, not really applying myself. (... that sounds believable, right?)... Anyway, the long and short of it is... clear + fast + kind of high... and things are moved around a bit. I'll try to attach a photo of the concrete slab spot I was referring to...
joeD Posted May 1, 2008 Author Posted May 1, 2008 That's some nice, uh, "scenery" there. I guess that's the crappy trailer hole. You gotta love Jefferson County.
cnr Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 The water kind of makes you wish you were out fishing it though! It beats doing home repair!
Members B-unit Posted May 1, 2008 Members Posted May 1, 2008 ... yeah, the raunchy old trailer really classes up the joint...
joeD Posted May 1, 2008 Author Posted May 1, 2008 where there'res smallmouth water, there's generally a good looking trailer nearby. why have trash service when you can dump it in the front yard.
3wt Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 wow, I dicovered this creek last summer and didn't know it was quite this popular... my fried floated the upper part a few weeks ago. He is an extremely experienced floater, and said he got swampted twice, and lost at least one fishing rod. Mentioned quited a bit of new hazards in the form of timber across the stream and submerged. can't wait to get to kinston now that i've seen the water conditions. it was barely ankle deep at the access last summer
