Wader Repair Advice Needed

Recommended Posts

I apologize if this topic's been covered recently... I looked around the site quite a bit but couldn't find it.

the boy's waders have developed a pretty good leak in the heal. These are the lightweight breathable types with booties, they came with some patch material, but not for the "bootie" area.

thanks

The worst place for a leak too. Repairing neoprene is tough. If its along the seam of the bootie you might try a heavy dose of aquaseal. You also might try taping over it with duct tape (seriously) and then applying an adhesive to seal it. Lastly, you can purchase neoprene socks to fit over the stocking feet which might very well seal it enough to where it would not leak.

What's the brand? They might fix em or replace them too.

I dont know much about this kind of thing but maybe a tire plug and some aquaseal around that would do it. But like I said I dont know much you would want to talk to someother guys about that before doing that (Just my two cents).

I would recommend filling the booties with water and hanging them up. Find out where they leak and mark it with a piece of chalk. Apply Loon UV wader repair. It looks like aquaseal but it cures in a couple of minutes in sunlight. I have used it on clients waders in the parking lot and fished immediately.

Thanks guys... they are (embarrassed to say) White River brand, so I don't guess the manufacturer is going to do me any good. I will look for that Loon UV stuff. thanks again!

I just repaired my noe booties the other week as well on my Cablea' breathables. I did exactly what John said, I hung the wader up ans slowly poured water in them until I found the leak. tehm marked the spot.

I then turned the waders inside out, and allowed them to dry. I used Aquaseal on the inside of hte waders. My leak was on the back side of the heal and since I had the wader inside out, I cupped the heal inward so when I applied the aquaseal it would form in its natural shape. I allowed it to setup for about 12 hours.

I then hung the waders back up and did the water test again. So far so good. I have not added any aquaseal to the exterior yet, I might do so as an extra line of protection.
