Nope...havent been there yet this year..call Brown's Canoe, Huzzah Valley, and Bass Canoe and ask them for current flow and fishing info..Its usually not worth fishing on the weekend unless you can find a way to avoid thousands of rental boats. Fish upstream, put in late and camp out, put on really early and float ahead of the pack, fish during the week. Good Luck.

Yes, they are very similar. On the Huzzah, Huzzah Valley puts in at Harper's Slab for a six mile float back to their place, and you can also go from their place to Scotia Bridge for another six mile or so float. Bass puts most canoes in on the Courtois, usually the first lowwater bridge below Hwy. 8 down to their place, and it's another 6 miles or so from Bass down to Scotia. Both places prefer to put in upstream on weekends, so they don't have to wait on drunken idiots at the take-out downstream, but both upstream and downstream will be crowded if it's a nice weekend.

The fishing can be tough on both streams because the water is usually very clear. But it can also be very good if you are on the creek when the crowds aren't.

I fish both streams a few times a year, and have done well on both...don't really have a favorite or even a favorite stretch.

Very similar streams...Butts Slab (Bass Resort) to Scotia Bridge on the Corutois is my favorite stretch for scenery..a couple caves down on Huzzah Conservation area...some sporty turns to negotiate. Fishing is about the same on both streams though. Typical creek fishing....lots of longears, and 8-11" bass, with a bigger bass every once in awhile. Cheers.

Tried to fish the Huzzah today. Parked at Scotia bridge and went up a ways (not far at all) until wading became too dangerous and difficult. Downstream from the bridge was the same deal; fairly high water moving at a pretty good clip. I guess I could have tried bushwhacking around, but it didn't really seem worth it considering the high probability that the pockets I might be able to get a good drift through would be few and far between. Water clarity was good however, so I could at least see through the water I was floundering around in.

We Haven't been yet this year.... *cries*... but we use Huzzah Valley and have them put us in at Scotia. We then float/walk back to Huzzah Valley Resort. It's a long day the way we fish..often we get back to camp after dark... we walk the creek too much and canoe too little....

We have caught and released some ovely Smallies and Rock Bass... we have hit on the occasional Large Mouth also.

If you go on a busy day with a ton of floaters moving by you, you will catch the heck out of Smallies! The floaters seem to liven the fish up and they hit best on crawfish. :) Good Luck!

You walk all that way back upstream???

Why not just float from Huzzah Valley to Scotia? You would cover the same water and wouldnt be walking/paddling upstream for 5 miles.
