Members diamond dave
I bought one last year from River Run Outfitters by the dam. It's a 9 ft. 4wt and I love it. I've had several people cast it and say it cast like butter. They say, I could cast as far as you if I had a rod like that. I'm telling you, it is the best fly rod I've ever bought. Talk to Carol when you go in to the shop and she will take good care of you.
Brian K. Shaffer
dd - that's Carolyn.. and I agree -- she is very helpful beadhead - I cast it when it came out.. I liked it alot.. seemed rather user friendly, had a lot of feel and is priced well. I also like the cosmetics of the Launch. I like all rods though.. so maybe my advice aint worth beans! Having said that - have you cast the TiCr rods by Temple Fork ? screaming reels - Brian Just once I wish a trout would wink at me! ozarkflyfisher@gmail.com I'm the guy wearing the same Simms longbilled hat for 10 years now. Members beadhead
Brian, no have not tried the TiCr TFO rods. I have a TFO series 1 (9ft #5) and like it a lot. For the money it is hard to beat. I will have to add it to the list... DD, sounds like if I cast it, I will like it. I have been hearing about another rod - Echo. It is a 4-5 piece rod that has two different tip sections. One is "A" - accuracy and another "D" - distance. Not sure who carries these ? Not really in the market for a new rod, but never hurts to look right!? I think I just have a case of GAS - Gear acquisition syndrome.
Brian K. Shaffer
beadhead - I hear you about the GAS - I have it too. Seems like I caught the bug back in 98.. and since there is no known cure.. you just have to deal with it.. sometimes it is painful too... Like today - I opened my package from TFO - with 2 new TiCr rods.. a 6wt and a 7wt. I put them both together and wiggled them.. and they are both smooth as silk. I plan to use them for anything.. anything that will continue to feed my addiction. So yeah.. the Launch rod.. keep it on the list.. but just cast a TFO next to it before buying. best fishes - Brian Just once I wish a trout would wink at me! ozarkflyfisher@gmail.com I'm the guy wearing the same Simms longbilled hat for 10 years now. Greg
I have a Sage FLI - which is similiar. It is a pretty good rod. I actually think the Launch would be more to my liking. I think it is slightly slower.
