ozarkgunner Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 I like to use shrimp for catfish bait. They have several advantages. 1. They are easy to reuse. 2. They are cheap -- 50-100 for 3.99 at walmart. 3. They resist bluegills and stay on in the current. 4. Your hands stay clean. 5. You can throw a frozen bag in the livewell and have them ready if needed. My question for everyone is if they use raw or cooked shrimp? I have had luck with both and even let them "cook" in the sun. Angler At Law
Quillback Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 I was watching a fishing show a few years back, I came in on it in the middle of the show so I did not hear what lake the guy was fishing, but basically he was using shrimp, no weight, and casting them up against the bluffs and letting it slowly sink, he was catching cat after cat. It was during the daytime in the spring, maybe they were spawning. Never have tried them myself, but it's on my list of things to do.
Members 883 Posted May 11, 2008 Members Posted May 11, 2008 I did know you could use shrimp for catfish. Dose squid work for anything here. It stays on the hook and the crabs drag it all over the place.
