Members bc23champ Posted May 14, 2008 Members Posted May 14, 2008 Went down to the Cape today...still a circus tryin to get loaded or launched...hope your a good backer...but can be done...even by yourself...didnt get on the water until 11 or so..so kind of a late start..and didnt have much luck until about 4pm...not sure if they just got hungry or i found them...tried the grub that everyone is talkin about...zippo on that..tried the PB&J jig...natta...so stuck with ole faithful chart/whit war eagle spinner with same color blades...its my confidence bait right now..so just hammered away with it...flippin in the bushes..and draggin it off points..nothin seemed to matter..when i started to trick a few...seemed to be a little of everything...shallow..and deep..points and flats..nothing to write home about..couple shorts and one small keeper...retrieve didnt matter..fast or slow..so i guess im about as confused as the rest...water was 66-72...so maybe there just up in the junk and i didnt feel like haulin brush..i cant seem to get out enough to really home-in on them...hope this helps some...

Members Shawn Posted May 16, 2008 Members Posted May 16, 2008 Anybody got any other reports??? havent had much luck. gotta a tournament sunday would like to have a idea on what to do in back of boat. last Pro-Am my pro had a nice limit but i was stuck in the back with little to no room to cast.
Whack'emGood Posted May 16, 2008 Posted May 16, 2008 That's why I don't ever fish a tourney as the non-boater... Most guys treat you like a second-class citizen. I've heard Babler talk about having his less skilled clients drag carolina rigs behind the boat with some success lately... also, dragging a split shot rig. Especially if your boater is beating the brush. Not to say that you are less skilled... But if you are stuck in the back of the boat with nowhere to cast... I would think you could have a chance to pick up some nice ones doing that, as opposed to trying to compete for casts with the inconsiderate guy in the front. That is, unless you get lucky, and get a guy that is not inconsiderate and allows you to cast at some good targets. Maybe someone else has a better idea... but I think you should consider dragging the rig. Good luck. "Success builds confidence, and you have to learn to trust your instincts and forget about fishing the way a tournament is supposed to be won. I'm going to fish my style and make it work for me." -KEVIN VANDAM "Confidence is the best lure in your tackle box." -GERALD SWINDLE "A-Rig? Thanks, but no thanks. If I can't catch them on the conventional tackle that I already use, then I guess I just can't catch them." -LK (WHACK'EM)
