Troutn Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 I have a free Jack Russel Terrier to a good home. She is 8 yrs old and a good dog. We have two little kids and she is really good around them. She has never bitt anyone! She is mostly house broken. We are trying to find her a good home becouse we are having a little girl and the dog already is neglected. She demands some hands on time and is really energetic. She really is a good dog that loves to run and play, we just don't have the time nor energy to put into her like we feel someone else could. Anyway, if you are interested at all feel free to email me. I will also send pics if interested. She has been pretty healthy and in good shape. She is not registered but that is only due to our lack of motivation when it came time to send in the papers. Oh, she is fixed as well. Nathan Shaw shawarchery@sbcglobal.net
Trav Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 Is she just a pet or can she work? I only ask because my dogs like to kill varmits. I am down to one now and my Valentine( as seen on my blog) might enjoy a hunting partner. From what I know of Jack Russells they can be viscious territory dogs. Troutn Posted May 14, 2008 Author Posted May 14, 2008 I have never hunted her. She has come dang near catching a rabit or two in the yard but thats about the extent of her hunting experiances. I know she loves water. We have taken her to the lake a few times and have to be careful how far we throw a ball or stick. She'll stay out on the water forever if we would let her. She is very protective of the family. She sounds vicious (sp?), but when it comes down to it she is a little baby. She'll run up to you full bore, then roll on her back when you reach down to pet her.
Trav Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 Sounds like my kind of dog. I am sure my Valentine(as seen on my blog) can teach her some tricks. What is her name? At her age she sounds like she will be great here in the woods alerting her master thet cars have got close. Plus will probably be a friend to Val. Maybe she will have more guts againsts the possums and armadillos. My Val hates to fight animals that dont fight back. She is a chaser. "May success follow your every cast." - Trav P. Johnson

Troutn Posted May 15, 2008 Author Posted May 15, 2008 Her name is Abby. What it comes down to is we think she could live a more fullfilling life elsewhere and at the same time provide a new owner with a great dog. I wish I had the land to let her run. That's what she really needs and longs for I think. We have tried to make a city dog out of her and it probably hasn't been fair to her. Trav if you are really thinking about adopting her, I urge you to do a little research on Jack's. She was an impulse buy about 8 years ago and we knew nothing about them. They are a unique little dogs that are full of character, not to mention energy!
Trav Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 I might have spoke to soon. The Lil Lady is telling me not quite yet. I dont ask why, Haha, I just keep the "no wake" bouys anchored. Hope you can find Abby a good home. Good Luck "May success follow your every cast." - Trav P. Johnson
