Jason Essary Posted May 15, 2008 Author Posted May 15, 2008 Great, thinking of taking off work tomorrow and going after them. Constructions a little slow right now. gives me some time to go after them. Ill be on the points outside of Indian Point Marina if ya see a alum. Tracker out there its probably me. Got anouther ? while on here. Bill said the fry were probably LM. Ive been fishing the area around there hard this year, more than ive ever fished. Ive caught tons of bass this year, and havent caught ONE LM. All have been sjaws and kent. Has anyone been catching any LM in my area? chub minnow Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 We were down for a long weekend and had a similar experience. We caught only K's and SM's. The Kentuckies were busting with eggs, but the smallmouth my wife caught had already done her thing and was very lightly colored. She caught her on 4" tube in very shallow water with chunk/gravel bottom while we were bank fishing (waiting for the laundry to dry). We fished mainly on Kings River where we caught all kentuckies, with a couple of goggleye thrown in for good measure. We saw 'em busting shad on points but couldn't ever hook up. All of the fish came off the bottom with various craw imitations. Had one spectacular strike bouncing a spinner through some downed wood, but missed the hookup.
rps Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 Wow, people are proud of those Mickey baits.....pretty looking but pricey. The amazing part is that Mikey Jr.s are not the most expensive. Check out the Xcalibur XW6 wakebaits, the Deps Buzzjet Jr., the ima Roumba, and the Strikeking King Shad. Last winter I found the Mikey Jr. on sale for less than $10 and felt as if I had hit the jackpot. They came with quality hooks and did not require any modification. Now, if I can only find the right time and place.
