Parachutes

I've been tying up some parachutes lately, and have been wondering what is the best order for making them most effective (or easier to tie).

I start by tying in the hackle, dubbing up to the eye, wrapping the hackle, and then tying off the hackle. However, I always seem to get some hackle fibres hanging over the eye, and it's tough to get 7x through the eye like that. Should I maybe wrap the hackle, tie off, and then dub forward?

This guy is very fast at tying parachutes and he demo's it very well for a look see..

Thats a very good video...notice how he wraps the post before he wraps his hackle, and how he binds the hackle to the post not down over the shank of the hook..On little ones it dont really worry about dubbing in front of the post..on bigger ones, I usually tie off the hackle and dub in front. Fine tipped scissors help a lot. Cheers.

And if you are lazy like me get yourself one of those cauterizing pens and just burn them little fibers.
