TroutRinger Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 What do you guys think is the best light line knot (4lb or less) for non fly-fishing. I personally have always gone between the improved clinch knot and the palomar knot but was wondering if there is anything better. Also what type of line do you use? For the last couple of years I have been using Ultragreen Maxima and like it very much. It is very strong for its diameter, nearly invisible, and I have only had line twist once or twice. "Of all the liars among mankind, the fisherman is the most trustworthy." "There's a fine line between fishing and standing on the shore like an idiot."
rps Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 If you like the Maxima - and I fished it for years - try the Yozuri Hybrid green. Very similar feel, smaller diameter and a little less stretch at an inexpensive price. The flouro coating seems to help it resist water logging and deterioration. Try the double palomer knot. Make two overhands before you drop the hook through the loop. Because of the extra overhand, be sure you wet the line before you pull it snug.
