FRENZEL Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 Well, Tony & I were out again trying to catch a few fair weather bass. We started on bank behind K-dock hoping to get a few casts in and back out before getting shot at or something. Well we got out but an angler fishing a tournament had a bit of a time. His motor went down earlier in the day and with barely any trolling juice left he decided to try to beat the bank on back to the ramp. As tony and I pulled away we saw you know who pulling a jon out. He proceeded to harrass the heck out of the poor guy by doing donuts and charging back and forth missing the boat by inches. He followed and continued till the boat was out of sight.I have some pics but need a cable for my samsung before I can post them. That guy is nuts. There is seriously something wrong with him. Is that legal? He needs a straight jacket and a padded cell! I mean, he yelled at us but what he did to the other guy was downright dangerous. I think the fishermans name was Harold. We met him back at the ramp and he was Hot to say the least. TRACY FRENZEL FRENZELS GUIDE SERVICE 417-699-2277 "ONE MORE CAST"
Members fish208 Posted February 27, 2006 Members Posted February 27, 2006 Well I can say that this guy has lost potential business. I don't have a boat...always just fished from the bank, and I had thought about renting one this spring just for a change of pace, but the K-dock won't be the place I go. I think I'd rather just keep fishing from the bank!!!
Wayne SW/MO Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 The guy needs to contact the authorities. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Forsythian Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 That's what I'm thinkin too... otherwise somebody's gonna get hurt or worse... That's no way to go through life, is it? Kind of a shame... Cenosillicaphobiac
rainbow Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 That could actually be considered assault. I would report that dude and get him in hot water. Geez, its only fish, not worth getting hurt over.
Sam Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 I never cause a problem with anyone on the water. In fact, I've helped more people than I can remember over the years - by giving them a tow or helping them get unstuck from a mud bar, or whatever. But self-defense is something different, when someone is running that close to you on purpose. I had a couple of guys on jet-skis doing that to me once on Tablerock. I just started throwing a big ol' Zara Spook on 20 lb. test, and while I was careful not to hook anyone - they grasped the concept real quick and backed off. I'd say if someone is buzzing that close to a guy that's fishing, any hooks that might come flying their way is their problem. Either from that method, or from the sheriff, that guy at K Dock needs an attitude adjustment.
Members Skeeter Jr. Posted February 28, 2006 Members Posted February 28, 2006 My family has a lake cabin across from K-dock and we go there frequently to get ice, ect. The owner is a great guy, we havent had a problem with him, and we havent heard of anyone either.
Brian K. Shaffer Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 What a weird situation.. and now conflicting stories about the guy in question. Where did all this come from ? Is a similar topic posted on here.... ? No one deserves to be ridiculed for fishing a dock. Pro Bass guys do it.. whats the deal ? confused - Brian Just once I wish a trout would wink at me! ozarkflyfisher@gmail.com I'm the guy wearing the same Simms longbilled hat for 10 years now.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted February 28, 2006 Root Admin Posted February 28, 2006 Brian- this subject has been brought up earlier on another thread. The owners of K-Dock have been badgering anglers in boats for quite sometime. They've supposedly been warned by the water patrol and the sheriff for harrasing anglers in boats around their dock including people I know personally, first-hand. I've tried (used to) to get fishing reports from them and the gal who answers the phone has actually hung up on me. I don't mean to pick on them... I'm not stating second or third hand "rumors"... just what I know first hand. I have been in their shop, bought snacks and gas from them and they do seem like decent folk. I guess you just don't want to push their "buttons".
powerdive Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 I've never had a problem with them either. (Although I do wish they'd open earlier on the weekends.) It should be pointed out that there are "No Fishing Within 50' of Dock" signs posted. But if that story is true, well...that's just crazy and needs to be legally addressed. The steep bank and flat edge on the east side of the marina used to be one of my favorite spots for walleye when the water was running hard, and it was always good for some bass--caught my personal best right there. Since they put that dock extension in, it's pretty much ruined, at least for me, because I will always respect the 50' rule as posted.
