Members NJ John
"but I would rather fish from my boat as would any boat owner and leave the waders in the closet." Packman I completely disagree - I own a boat and waders - but when they are not running water I much prefer the wading. I know many other trout fisherman that feel the same way. Greg Just last week I along with some friends boated on Taneycomo till we came upon some wader fisherman. We pulled to the side got out of the boat and started to wade fish. It was a beautiful day with many boats out and only one boat motored past us. They were courteous driving very slowly till they passed the wader fisherman and then proceeded up stream. I rarely boat past the MDC ramp with no water running but have seen others. The ones that I spoke to were not familiar with the lake along with one idiot jet skier that I don't want to get started on.I certainly don't want to see boats banned from this area I think people should use some common sense and respect the rights of others and operate safely. loo10
"..... one idiot jet skier that I don't want to get started on." I don't want to see them outlaw boats either. But JET SKI'S are a whole different matter! Those can go anytime! Micheal Kyle
Well I would have to say that there are some very strong opinions on this matter. I think that if everyone will just work together that we will all get along and and everyone can catch fish. Taneycomo is such a great fishery that has been developed over the years and I would have to say that I think that the new world record brown will come soon. I hope that someone off the fourm catches the big fish. This sounds stupid as a post but I'm really board today. Has given me time to come up with a new topic. So I hope that we can get as much feedback as this one. To Know People Is To Know Thier Ways!
Members johnnymiller
I would Like to WADE in on this boat issue The problem is outboard motors. restriction should be placed to motors at low water times unless your using the motors for stiring up the gravel to excite the fish!!!!! Famous motor shuffling! Just a thought anyone got a motor for sale i can mount on my wader belt so i dont have to move my feet.
Guest lbt
Packman, So that is how you are going to treat the people that wade just boat in front and disrupt thier fishing. That's not right I really think that there is a deeper issue I feel that you think that you are better than us waders because you own a boat. I would like to think that you were better than that since you are a fisherman. I would like to tell you that you misunderstood me when I said no big fish, what I was saying that you will not catch any big fish when the water is low and that you are spooking the huge fish off. Unless you are one of those snaggers that like to snag them in the side or drift the leader or fishing line through their mouth when they open their mouth, just so that you can have your pic with the fish. I have to say that I think that the boaters are beeing pretty selfish when it comes to this topic. I think lilley said that if the water is running for 24/7 and they make the upper 3/4 mile where there is no boats that would distroy the fishery.Because that is supposed to be the best fishing when thewater is on. What about the waders I'm not going to wade out there when 3-4 units are running, the only place that we would be able to fish is from the bank making that area just unfishable. Last time I checked there were not that many places to fish from the bank when they are blasting water, hell we can't even wade if they have 2 units on. So I would say that the baoters could care less. There we go again waders S.O.L. I would have to say that the waders will out number the boaters and if we complained enough and got legislation started that we could get it passed. I really think that some people need to analyze stuff a little bit more befor they determine a place is unfishable. One last thing is 22.25 miles to fish not enough I would have to think so. I would think that if I had a boat that I could find some awsome water to fish in 22.25 not just in the 3/4 mile strecth. lbt
Kicknbass
Leave the boat fisherman alone. There are plenty of places to wade fish if you don' like boats. Taney should not be one of them. There are too many older or disabled fisherman that need the ability of a boat to fish. The last time I checked Bennett or Roaring Rivers don't allow boats... Fish there. Danoinark
I think there is room for everyone. I believe this thread was actually dealing with safety..and its just imperative that each and everyone of us be mindful of first our own safety then the safety of your fellow angler. I know as a wader I will give the boat a wide berth, and I hope the boater will do the same for me. Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted March 8, 2006 Root Admin Share Posted March 8, 2006 I think lilley said that if the water is running for 24/7 and they make the upper 3/4 mile where there is no boats that would distroy the fishery. I didn't say that. Everybody has a right to his opinion... just as long as we 'just be friends'
