Friday evening I hit the water about 6pm... and met up with D.T.

Water was very high (over 710).. so we walked through the water and woods..

Using spinning rods and the PMS jig...

D.T. started his evening off great..

******* QUICK QUESTION******

Whats better then catching a 5 pound brown on a ultra lite???

****answer**

on Dave's second cast... he hauls the little honey in.... about a 3 1/2- 4lbs smallie..

P6060487.jpg

and few cast later a white bass... and few more later about a 24-25in walleye..

and through the evening we caught the crap out of goggle-eye..

we ended up with 4 smallies ( the picture is the smallest of the night).. a white bass about 17in (Released)... 7 or 8 goggle-eye (released)..

3 walleye (a 24.. and 2 26's... MEAT)...

Then Dave went and did it.... he caught a trout...LOL... after the the fishing just died off....LOL

The walleye are still there and some really nice ones..

I Told Bill B. That I was throwing the 16-18in walleyes back... I thought he was going to throw me back.... LOL

Hey Leonard, I'm heading down to stay at Lazy Valley Resort just down from Lilleys Landing this coming Thursday-Sunday. I'll do most of my fishing from the boat, but I'll come up to the hatchery and keep an eye out for the Taneycomo Nights van.

I did manage to take home 1 walleye Saturday night, also caught a goggleye but released it. I did remember to use the hemos to get the fly of the the walleyes mouth since he took it pretty deep. Water finally dropped to 1 gen but not until about 1:00 am. Ended up with about 15 trout, 1 white, 1 goggleye, 1 walleye.

Friday night went to outlet 1 about 12:30am after Leonard said everyone else had left, threw the PMS jig for a while until the water dropped to below 704 and started to use the fly rod with a PMS and caught over 20 between 1 & 2 am all trout. Mostly good size with one 22" and another 21" measured with marks on my net.

Sounds like me-I caught all Bass and Perch Sunday then one Trout and it was over. I did see a Channel cat above Fall Creek though, 7 or 8 pound floater and another dead one about that size in the mouth of Turkey Creek.

Also thanks to Kathy, Marsha and Curtis at Lilleys Landing for taking care of us boatwise.

I wouldn't go just to fish for the walleyes, just fish for the trout the walleyes come by chance or more like accident. This was the first one I caught after several nights of fishing since the gates were open last April. I don't know how much rain the Table Rock watershed received the last 2 days, but if they open the gates again then that may replenish the walleye, smallmouth, goggleye and gar population below the dam again.

Help out us beginners with PMJ jig? Type, color and fishing technique?

Many thanks

Oh yea. I have been meaning to ask how these walleye don't break through small pound test line with thier sharp mouths?

For Leonards PMS (pine, maribou, sculpin) fly recipe look on down in the fly recipe section. For the jig just tie it on a 1/8 oz jig head instead. As for what you call small pound test, we are using 6-8 lb test. Walleye have sharp pointed teeth and not razor sharp edges and usually they are just hooked in the corner of the mouth. I do notice more abrasion on my line after catching 4 or 5 brown trout, have not caught enough eyes on the same line to notice. For technique it varies with the water condition, if you really want to know and try first hand check out Leonards website and book a trout/walleye trip with him.

I was netting shad when the gates were open at truman last summer and pulled in 4 walleye in the first throw smallest was 20in the biggest was 27in the hardest thing I ever done was turn them back to the wild.
