Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted November 29, 2005 Root Admin Posted November 29, 2005 Talked to Buster- he's still catching alot of kentuckies deep off points and transision banks 30-40 feet deep using Jewel 3/8 oz football jigs in the punpkin seed/ watermelon colors. But he said guys are catching some big largemouth up in the creeks (James mainly) on spinner baits. Crappie still are in the news- Cricket Creek/ Long Creek is still the hot spot (if there is such a thing in the winter) and when they are catching crappie they're big ones. Along the bluffs in cedars 8-20 feet deep using jigs, they should be schooling up as the water cools... and with the winds we've had, the water temps should be cooling nicely.
Members Kit Posted November 30, 2005 Members Posted November 30, 2005 Crappie in Cape Fair are still scattered as of Thanksgiving. Pulled two from a channel edge just off 76 bridge . I tandem jig two poles and throw one Road Runner Typically. Black and Chartruese seems to be out performing the other colors. Should be out for another couple hours this weekend.
Members 5 Keepers Posted January 2, 2006 Members Posted January 2, 2006 I'm late with this report but I was at the lake December 16th. The Kentuckies were still hitting the main lake points and transition banks. Little Cow Creek area. I fished 55' up to 20' with a 3/8oz football jig pb&j. Biggest one was close to 4 lbs at about 3:15 in the afternoon. I didn't get down over the holidays, mamma had other plans. Is anybody still fishing for bass or is everybody searching for crappie?
