Crappie5 Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 We fished the campbell point night tourney last night and came home with 4th place with 12lbs. 1st was 18-1/2 lbs and they also won big bass with a 6.7 lb LM. 2nd. We caught a few fish drop shotting before dark but nothing to get rich on. It was pretty much dead from 9:00-11:00 and then they finally turned on. We stayed on the bluff ends all night. All of our keepers and most of the rest of the fish were caught on watermelon/black flek salt crawls. Weigh in was at 1:00 and we left fish biting. We stayed in 30'-42' of water all night and most of the fish were halfway from the boat to the bank in the 20' range mosty on the bottom. We caught around 20 fish with 8 keepers. We weighed in 5 fish. Hope this helps any of you night fisherman.
RSBreth Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 Thanks. I don't fish the night tourneys, but know some who do. Some that should join us here, but aren't up on "the internets"!
Bill Babler Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 C5 Fantastic report. This is great info on the night fishing that we have had so many people ask for. Sounds like it may have at last broken thru and they are starting to bite. Full moon is killing the daytime bite and I'm sure it was a great help to you all last night. Thanks for the great report. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Crappie5 Posted June 23, 2008 Author Posted June 23, 2008 Bill, you are right. The night bite did not get real good until 11:00 when the moon came up and it was still going when we left for weigh in. There were several at weigh in talking about how some of the keepers they caught were just 5 minutes before the had to come in.
Whack'emGood Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 Good report Crappie5. Thanks! We have been finding similar results as well. Our best times have been right before/at dark, and then there is kind of a lull until later. Lets keep the night fishing talk going boys!! Whack'em "Success builds confidence, and you have to learn to trust your instincts and forget about fishing the way a tournament is supposed to be won. I'm going to fish my style and make it work for me." -KEVIN VANDAM "Confidence is the best lure in your tackle box." -GERALD SWINDLE "A-Rig? Thanks, but no thanks. If I can't catch them on the conventional tackle that I already use, then I guess I just can't catch them." -LK (WHACK'EM)
Roaring River Veteran Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 C5, Thanks for the info. I don't fish many night tournys but I do enjoy fishing nights. Not to worry I'll leave em where I find em Thanks again RRV Good luck and Good fishing RRV
