I will be camping this weekend at Big Bay. I have never been to Table Rocks. I plan on buying a contour map tonight. Is there good bass fishing in that area? I don't really want to take my boat further than 10 miles away. Are bass in that area this time of the year? Thanks.

I must restrain myself. I can hardly do so..... but I will.

The answer is Yes, and Yes.

Haha, thanks. Judging by the pig in your avatar I should be looking for some smallies eh. I'm not looking for specific spots or anything like that. I've actually gotten fairly decent at locating fish. I just always hear the stories of fishing deep and dropshotting on Table Rock, something I've never done.

Hey you might want to call the Forest service office about Big Bay, and make sure you can camp there. At one time it was flooded and i thought like the day use part was all that was out of the water.

Allen,

Fish the points around Big Bay Resort on both sides of the creek. Also, heading downlake toward Baxter, go into White Oak. It'll be the first creek on your left and within sight of Big Bay. You'll find em.

Champ188, thanks for the info. I didn't get a chance to look at your response before we left. We got hammered by that storm, but stayed pretty dry. Dangerous being out in that lightening, but there were no 24/7 motels that I knew of. I was only able to fish for a couple hours on Sunday morning, the crew I was camping with just aren't fisherman like me. The two spots I fished was the western main point of the Bay Creek arm, and I also fished one of the points on up in the creek, next to a channel bend. I didn't catch anything. Dunno if I was too close or too far out on those points or what, I had my boat in about 30 feet of water casting a 1/2 oz. football jig in on the points probably landing in 15 ft or so of water. Next time I go up in September, I would like to get a guide so I can learn how to fish that lake, it definitely fishes differently than any lake I've been too. One more thing, I just wanted to say that I was impressed with the food in Shell Knob. We ate at an Italian deli that was very good, and a mom and pop restaurant over by the library. Both places were excellent and we had a great time, even with the rain. My canoeing skills on the Kings River was a different story!
