Montauk Fish Are Hitting Beetles Very Well

Fished montauk today, had a blast, not many people on the stream, had it to myself for several hrs. I fished the C&R area first and then on to the flys only area, caught over 50 fish today and had 3 very nice 18"+ fish 1 was a brown and two were rainbows, all on beetles, I caught most of my fish on beetles today, brown, black and green beetles all worked very well, I missed a lot but landed plenty, I stood in one hole and landed 15 in about an hour and a half and most of them on a beetle, I was fishing the #10 my favorite size.

The water was very clear, I sight fished a bit, caught several on a white brassie, and on a cream colored san juan worm.

Here are some pics, it was a good day, I need to get up there more often. I put the little rainbow on because he had great color and he hated green beetles, tried to kill mine

Beetles have always worked great there, ants too are a killer. I am heading up in the morning, reservations that we rescheduled from April.

I like ants to, just eaiser to see beetles now

You should have a great trip, plenty of fish in the fly area.

I used this one most of the day, I used green, brown and black beetles.
