I need help adding lower unit grease in my 1987 Mercury 80 HP Outboard. I have no owners manual.

Update: Found it and it was full. The color was not milky, but was a little black.

drain it and change the fluid.

and unless you store it in an area that doesnt freeze hard in the winter,

drain it before storage and refill.

nothin worse then going to your rig in the spring and finding out the housing

is cracked. doesnt take much water at all to do major damage in a hard freeze.

I change mine 2 and three times a summer make sure to fill from the drain squeeze it in till it runs out the top so the oil dosent get airlocked and you think its full but it is not.

milky oil? => water seeping in through a seal ...( pull off your prop and look for fishing line around the prop shaft) .but replace the stainless steel cotter pin, never re-use the old one. then re-check your oil after your outing.. if it's milky again, in most case's you can go to any marine dealer and have a vacuum and pressure test done.... but you caught it, before it gets bad.
