It made perfect sense to me.

Now that juvenile attempt at sarcastic humor you made.....well....

Now Chief,

Come on.

It can't be both cut and dry as well as at the discretion of the agent. Sounds a little contradictory.

And let me assure you against what the national media has convenced you that non-liberals care about preserving resources.

Of course there can be discretion. Honest mistakes can and do happen without intent. An agent can quickly discern whether intent was involved. Some rules can be very difficult for those new to the outdoors to understand. They may think they are follwing the regulation to a T, only to find out from the agent they are not. At that point maybe a little Andy Griffith justice should prevail. Same thing can go with changes in regulations for the rest of us.

Let me assure you the media does not make my desisions for me. After reading many post to this formum, I've got a pretty good idea where people stand on issues. As long as the issue is many miles away. They do change the closer to home they get though.

Doesn't hurt to test it a bit and explore beliefs.

Highly restrictive limits do nothing for the real poacher who is taking many more than 6 trout.

We all know rural poachers who have never been caught and who poach deer all year long and there is nothing we can do about it. In many instances the CA even know who these people are.

I commend your decision to get this individual.

I can't say I'm pumping my fist or anything over this, but I have that "cast the first stone" syndrome. I will admit to fishing from the dock on a lake overpopulated with Crappie, having good luck while the only other fisherman there could catch nothing but small bluegill. I knew she was not going to waste the food and the local wardens had both confided in me that the lake was TOO full of Crappie (and they drained that lake a year later to reduce the population.) So, I intentinally slipped a limit of nice slabs into her 5 gallon bucket before completing my limit.

However, you did the right thing. I agree that there is a need to crack down on poaching. I'm not sure I would be offended if the couple had walked out with eight fish, though, even if he had caught the majority. Now if they came back later with clean stringers and buckets, I'd have a big problem.

But, regulations are regulations... Don't feel bad about what you did.

Just to clarify my position, I in no way disagree with what you did, Chief. I merely said that I have a hard time standing up and cheering knowing that I have done something similar in the past - including duck hunts which are pretty doggone difficult to be sure who took a duck down at times with seven hunters blasting at incoming Mallards. The circumstances as I see them in your case were well outside the limits of the law (no pun intended.) You did the right thing.

And as I said, I don't think I would have a problem with a couple walking out with their limit of fish. But it is clear these folks violated the regulations. So, yes, you did the right thing.

And I think you will find that my values are very much more to the right than you may realize.

I know Terry. I understood. And you make a perfect point with this post.

I have also made mistakes. I'm sure we all have and that gets back to my point of intent. We did not intend to break the law, but on occasion we have. Its those with intent that need to be roped in.

And just between us, this board swings to the right. A lefty doesn't stand much of a chance.

Chief first congrats on what u did the agents are few and far inbetween they need our help and u did the right thing. The reason this board swings to the right is because most of your conservationist are conservaties. Most of your left wingers are people like P.E.T.A. (totally a liberal group). If they could ever get our guns the next thing will be our poles. Notice i say most and i am not saying every liberal is like that just the majority the same way with conservaties.
