Members Ozark Baby Posted July 6, 2008 Members Posted July 6, 2008 Has anybody here ever fished at McDaniel Lake? If so, how was it and do they have catfish? Been up there lately? Where are the good spots for bank fishing for catfish or crappie?
ColdWaterFshr Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 Used to fish it all the time at night off the bridge with lights for crappie. 25 years ago though. Yeah, I'm sure there are catfish in there. Lot of bank spots to access from trails on both sides of the bridge.
Members fisher19 Posted July 7, 2008 Members Posted July 7, 2008 There are catfish in there and every now and then you catch one. For crappie the best spot would probably be the bridge but you dont catch any real nice ones. A 10 incher i would say would be a nice one. A couple of years ago you could go up there and catch a nice limit from under a light but now it seems to me that it is way over fished. cause you dont catch as many or any of good sizes. And for the trails that go down along the bank they are private property so its your own risk at getting caught.
Members Ozark Baby Posted July 8, 2008 Author Members Posted July 8, 2008 Thanks for the info. Doesn't sound like a place I am looking for some nice fishing. I am looking for a nice lake or river or stream where my husband and I can go for a day of fishing and have a picnic and such. Got any ideas? I espeically would like to fish for catfish, but also enjoy bluegill. Thanks so much.
Members Ozark Baby Posted July 8, 2008 Author Members Posted July 8, 2008 Fellows Lake I was thinking that also. Thanks for your's and everyone else's replies. Really appreciate it.
Members fisher19 Posted July 9, 2008 Members Posted July 9, 2008 I would say fellows also. There are a bunch of crappie and bluegill and some nice cats too. I caught an eight pound blue cat a week ago there. I know its not that big but it was a good fight on 4 pound line. Good luck up there.

Members bigfish Posted August 1, 2008 Members Posted August 1, 2008 I have caught some good catfish while crappie fishing on the right side of the bridge there but normally have to get there pretty early or some one has got that spot i think with the combo of the bridge pillars and cedar trees it attracts a ton of big gizzard shad and usually holds good fish if i had to go to fellows that's where i would go if you want real big catfish go to stockton lake caught one last week on a jug that was 23 lbs and they get way bigger than that hope this helps
