I have used the Palomar knot for years, its an easy tie and retains almost 100 percent line strength.

The clinch knot is what I use most for flies, fast and easy to tie, make sure you lube it with spit or water.

I prefer palomar knots myself. Can get difficult with tiny baits.

If you are going to use braid, use the same Palomar knot but pass the loop through the overhand knot twice before you put the hook or bait through the loop. Unbelieveable holding power even on slick braid.
